I'd personally give it a 7. It showed some cool games, especially Zelda and Mario Maker, plus some new stuff for Smash, but nothing really blew me away. Plus, no F-Zero, Star Fox, Metroid, or mention of DS on the Wii U was disappointing. Plus, no "YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THIS RIGHT NOW OR THIS WEEK" surprises. I love those and we didn't get any.

@Dynablade

A wild Dynablade appears! Good to see ya!

I also like how Nintendo organized themselves for this year's E3. The stream went off without a hitch, and the following streams showing off the new games and the Smash tournament were like icing on the cake. It was a very strong showing.

@Tranquilo

Pikmin 2's sculpted promotional art is also something I've wanted to see Nintendo adapt to one of their games, and I'm loving what we saw of Rainbow Curse. The announcement satisfied my desire for a Canvas Curse sequel and a Nintendo game with clay-like characters.

I voted 9 but I wish I could change it to a 10.

I voted 8 earlier today, then posted my impressions in Zero's thread, which made me realize this was a 9.5-10 for me.
I was impressed with pretty much everything they had to show.

I'm pretty much buying every game that was shown for the Wii U in that direct, except splatoon. I think the game looks fantastic, but having to play online with several other players kindof cuts me out of this one. Now, if my sons really want the game, then I'll give it a try. I honestly will not have the time to play this game with everything else being released. Anyways, its not like I need every game that was shown in the direct.

One of these days I'm going to make myself play through a Pokemon game!

I didn't watch the entire IGN video, but I did watch about five minutes of the Devil's Third( I think thats the correct title), and I didn't think the game looks as bad as some of you are suggesting. I watched the 2010 video, (what the hell, this game has been in development for over four years?!) and while that video shows a different game, not sure why, It definitely looks different due to the editing and baically it just looks like a completely different game. Other than all the fast paced action in the 2010 video, I didn't think it looked better, just different, plus I bet that video was concocted while the game was in early development. Anyways, I want to try out different games than the usual Nintendo selection. Thats why I'm buying Bayonetta 2 as well. Now, if this Devil's Third receives horrible reviews, like 5/10 or lower, then I'll probably take a pass.

Gave it an 8, which was my hype level. I thought it was a pretty good showing.

LOVED the opening video, and compared it to the "I'm just going to stand here on stage and talk all monotone" that the other companies do. --And Robot Chicken?! BRILLIANT. I hope they keep these channels (including Mega64) open for ALL future showings. Great work.

The games, yeah, some exciting stuff. 2015 looks BUSY. I know that people will find a way (and they already have), DOGGING Nintendo for 2014, despite knowing full well the tidal wave of games that is just a few more months away. I think thats crap.

I'm on board for almost everything shown today. and I'll give a real hard look at Devils' Third, too. The planes w/ bombs part interested me. Gotta see what that stuff (and the buying things) is all about.

My rating?

Too Much Wii U out of Not Enough 3DS

I mean, sure. The 3DS schedule is already fairly packed as-is, but I was surprised at how few new announcements were made for the portable. And I'm talking surprised-surprised. Not pleasantly surprised. Where's my Majora's Mask 3D?!? I'm also disappointed by the lack of "And you can download this RIGHT NOW!" announcements. Bah.

But that's just my feelings.

I will say I really enjoyed the presentation overall. The Robot Chicken stuff was great. The Iwata vs. Reggie thing for Smash/NFP stuff was fantastic. Everything moved along at a pretty decent clip, and the focus was clearly on games. Wii U games, but games nonetheless.

@GameDadGrant

Nintendo always has several Nintendo Directs throughout the year. E3 is a huge event and Wii U needs that attention. 3DS could very well have its own Nintendo Direct soon enough to showcase software for the rest of the year. And let's not forget the 90 minute presentation today for that unannounced title.

I think I am going to revise my rating after some consideration. The direct showed 11 games and I am personally only interested in 6 of them. I said 8 before but thinking about it more I'd have to downgrade it to a 6 or 7. Still a good showing though.

@Stephen

I appreciate variety. I'm not interested in Bayonetta (although the inclusion of the original makes me more likely to give it a try someday) but it is a better addition to the library than something I am interested in that is duplicative of other experiences on the console.

Lots of 3DS announcements, they just weren't on the show.

Nintendo publishing Level 5's Fantasy Life is pretty cool news. We also know there's gonna be another game revealed tonight. Some people say it's the Majora's Mask remake, but why a developer conference about that game? Others say Metroid. We'll see.

@GameDadGrant

I know you're a 3DS fanatic, but you know the Wii U needed the attention this year. That's why they did what they did.

Also worth nothing, Reggie said yesterday wouldn't be the only announcements that would be happening.

Oh yeah, I know the Wii U needs the TLC right now, guys. I'm not blind to that! It's just not something that's really in my wheelhouse, so I wasn't really feeling much of what was shown.

Honestly, the only new thing that really piqued my interest was the Legend of Zelda reveal...because I'm a big fan of that series. But even that had a bit of a damper on it because (and I realize this may not be a popular opinion) I don't really like the art style. This cel-shaded, water-color paint stuff that Nintendo's splashed onto this franchise doesn't sit entirely well with me. Never really has. And as I mentioned in another thread, I hope traditional controls are used for this game, but I'm afraid that might not be the case. Because (again, not a popular opinion here) the motion controls in Skyward Sword were janky and painful IMO, and I don't want to see that return. .....Buuuuuut, we don't know how the game will play yet. So I'll reserve judgement for later.

Hopefully whatever is being revealed today will be great. I'm hoping we get an announcement for the localization of DragonQuest, and maybe Metroid. And for crying out loud, can they just show us Starfox?!? We already know they are working on it! Don't hide it from us!
