This May, one game will define MULTIPLAYER FUN on Wii U. That game, is Mario Kart 8!


Mario Kart has been a Nintendo staple since it's SNES debut over two decades ago. Only two Nintendo products neglected to have an entry and each entry that has existed is a charming title in someone's eyes. Entries like Double Dash on Gamecube helped push the boundaries of creativity and uniqueness, while more recent titles have continued to refine a core experience. Mario Kart 8 seeks to continue that trend with it's jaw-dropping HD visuals, Anti-gravity racing, and incredibly well-designed tracks.


With all the characters known, the deep customization possibilities to each individual racer, the classic 32-total track count... there's so much to discuss and share and debate. Reviews are just coming in now and while I'll post a few below but they're not all gushing with pride. User Stephen recently made a thread aiming to have a more comprehensive list of reviews available. So... Finally picked the game up yesterday and played with the kid a bit. So far, I'm liking the heck out of it. I'm really enjoying the tracks! Baby characters all the way! I think I happened into a match with Ploot and possibly Fink, but it crapped out before the race started. I leave for a 2 week vacation on Friday, so I'm gonna have to squeeze in some good racing before then.

Lets try to race before Friday! I tried joining but others from around the world clogged it. We'll have to do a time where we can make a NW room.

Really bad run there. Despite racing pretty clean laps I was never getting out of 8th/9th place. Poor little Yoshi was getting jostled at the start and spent every race trying to claw back. Need to beef up.

I'm horrible at keeping this stuff updated. I'll try my best.

I never had any problems with any type of communication errors, until late last night and especially after midnight, I'd be in a room, everyone had picked their track and then nothing would happen, then I'd be kicked out. My son was also online at his place and he was being kicked out as well.

Hopefully, this isn't an ongoing issue.

Anyone else notice the big musical notes on Music Park don't bounce as fast as they do on the 3DS version?

playing online with my sons and got kicked out twice while racing. Nintendo better fix this or I'll just give up on it. Another reason why I have a hard time enjoying online gaming. grrrrrr.

So I just did the special cup and basically on the first two courses I got hit by items while in midair like 9 times, thus losing 6 coins and often my item as well, and twice in a row, Yoshi just zooms right past me at the last second with 3x shrooms and steals the race.

And that was on 50cc

But on the bright side at least based on past games in the series I can find out what cups unlock what character, I don't have to go through fucking hell and back and then pray to god I got a good character and not fucking "golden shower on anyone who values good character design" peach because at least some punk didn't randomize the unlocks for some god forsaken reaso- really guys....

Although Ploot and I usually play together, I am sometimes playing when he's at work, under my own NNID.

A lightning bolt followed by a red shell while I am in first. Then peach just zooms on in a steals first place. I have had stuff like this happen more than once. I am getting really frustrated.

It's ridiculous.
