New Fatal Frame game announced for the Wii U
News reported by

Tecmo Koei and Nintendo are collaborating once again for a new Fatal Frame, and it appears to be a completely new game. No real details out yet, nor a release date or even a title.

Or any images, for that matter. The image below is from Fatal Frame IV on the Wii.

A live action film, novel, and comic are also planned. Interesting.

Here is to hoping that Nintendo realizes that it needs as many darn Wii U games as possible and doesn't keep this one held up in Japan like they did with Fatal Frame IV!

Hope it uses the gamepad in interesting ways.

The fact that they didn't bring Fatal Frame IV to the U.S. means I have zero trust in them. We NEVER missed a fuckin' Fatal Frame before that! EVER!

I was wondering when they would do something original with this franchise after they bought it so many years ago.

Wii U is saved confirmed!

Although on a serious note. I can't get hyped or anything until they announce a release date.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK YEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARHHHHHHH!!!! SOOOOO HAAAAAAPPYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This better be coming to Europe and North America! I'm actually gonna be sort of optimistic about PAL territory because Nintendo of Europe.

Ohboyohboyohboyohboyohboyohboyohboyohboyohboyohboyohboyohboy, this will be such a perfect fit for the Wii U! SUCH! A! PERFECT! FIT!
If it's half as scary as Project Zero 2: Wii Edition it'll be too much to bear! Eeeeeeeeeeee!

If anything it could be scarier with the GamePad! Here's hoping the lack of retail games in general brings this speedily to the West.

I recently learned that the remake of Fatal Frame 2 came out in Europe and Australia; why didn't it come to North America as well? I don't know why Tecmo keeps on releasing these games on Nintendo systems when they inevitably reach fewer people than they did when they were on the PS2 and Xbox.

@X-pert74

Nintendo bought co-ownership to the franchise back in 2012 I believe.

'Cause Nintendo funds and publishes the games for them, in a world where survival horror is on the way out, I'd bet. I can only hope Nintendo starts giving the games the worldwide releases they deserve, starting with this one.

@chrisbg99
It seems that they might have co-ownership of the series, but there was some debate about it a while back with certain people interpreting the copyright info as Nintendo merely co-owning the individual games they themselves had helped publish. I'd love to hear the final word on the matter, though, if anybody knows.

Lets get real guys... I'm worried this could overshadow and hurt Smash Bros. sales on Wii U.

So... who wants to join me in showering NOA and NOE with emails, telegrams, flowers, poems, puppy dogs, nude selfies and cash in a futile attempt at showing our interest in the series?

That's great to see that they're keeping the franchise alive.

One of the few truly scary IP's left in the horror genre.

Cool! It's kind of what the Gamepad was made for. It should be more appropriate than Spirit Camera, anyway.

@r_hjort
How many games did you guys get?

Somewhat suitably, the Americas have received ZERO.

@Anand
Lol, I see what you did there.

Out of the three Nintendo published ones we got two: Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir (you guys got that little experiment too though, right?) and Project Zero 2: Wii Edition. There were indications of Fatal Frame IV coming to Europe, such as a rumored print ad circulating in Spain, but we sadly never got it. Rumors talked about a disagreement between Tecmo and Nintendo when it came to if they should tweak certain parts of the content, and who would deal with that, but I don't know what happened.

Yep, we got Spirit Camera. I still haven't opened it, though. Even though I share the same initials, I kind of hate AR.
