Welcome to the Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate thread! This will be our headquarters for coordinating our Hunts, sharing stories of war, and helpful hints for our brothers-in-arms, compatriots, friends, and neighbors. Please be mindful of folks' different definitions of "spoilers," and remember that not EVERYBODY played Monster Hunter Tri on the Wii, though everybody totally should've.


The "burden" of running this thread has been placed upon me but...I can't do it alone. I will lean on Maxi and others to help with the heavy lifting occasionally, both in planning things and also in feeding this thread. Please keep it bumped (once we get going). If you could, let us know if you're getting this game, WHEN you're getting this game, and what your aspirations are so we can get us situated in groups with likeminded people. Do you want to barely play this game? Is this going to be your new #1? The most fun with this game is had when you get to go out with a group of guys week in week out, so if we can find someone with a schedule similar to yours, you'll have the most fun with it.

@TheOldManFromZeldanot sure if you know this or not but if gobul leaves an area to an underwater area, wait a minute before entering and you can carve them off him while he's underground. You'll notice he's the plant looking thing with breathe coming from it, you will get paralyzed but grabbing a whisker is worth it

@TheOldManFromZeldaeven trip cart solo runs on him you can get 1 per run, fight him for a couple mins til he leaves to area 3, gather(65% chance), then abandon or proceed. 15% cap 2 slots or 8% carve 3 carves. Cap is slightly better but kill is more satisfying

Yup, exactly how I feel. Though I guess it would be too much to name the game Monster Hunter/Capturer/Gatherer.

Hopefully in just under 2 weeks I will be hunting monsters with you all again!! It makes me really happy that people just keep playing this game and that the energy level doesn't just die off 8 weeks after the game is released (as seems to be the case with many games).

..It kinda did, though. For a while it was only myself and Anand on Tuesdays, and then it was only myself and Cryo on Tuesdays. Yeah, I got together with Lou on Fridays a bunch..but it'd be just us two. Long gone are the days of "man, I guess I'll just start a new room," and we're split 4-3.

Good outing last night, team!

With the exception of my STUPID garb on Alatreon (juggled by Ice droppings, and I'm pretty sure it was related to me missing my usual Riser(HI) ), we crushed that dude. One more Skyswayer..

Sounds like Big Styg is getting dropped next Tuesday, too. That'll ROCK.

Part of the reason I haven't been playing much is that I don't like the quests that people have been wanting to do lately. I don't want to refuse to do a quest that gets posted, that ain't cool, so I think it's better if I don't clog up the room.

Another big part is that I've been getting my fill of Wi-Fi games before that gets shut down. After that happens, I may make some more appearances.

I guess that is directed towards me since I'm one of two people in the rooms lately, and Cryo always goes "whatever." What Quests do you want to do? This might come as a shock..but the best way to have your Quest get done/picked is to a) say which Quest you want to do while you're in the room when we go "hey Mop it up, which Quest do you want to do?" and b) pick it. We could probably get in 2-3 more Quests a night if someone finished a Quest, ran over to the guy, and picked a new one. I can't tell you how often we're just standing around, "wieners in hands,"* going "hey, what do YOU wanna do?"

I've completed all of my Quests (basically), with the only ones I haven't completed are The Big Styg Event Quest ("Descent into Hades"), one that got unlocked at HR100 (saving it for when other people get closer...or did I finish that recently? I'm not sure.); and the other thing I'm working on is finishing my final Sword n Shield. I can't get a Skyswayer from a couple of Great Jaggis, sorry; s'gotta be Alatreon G.

It doesn't make any sense for me to go "Hey, you guys wanna go hunt 3 Ludroths?" If you want to pick that, COOL, and I'll do it with you, but I'm sure as sugar not going to "use my pick" on that one.


* No quotes for Anand. His wiener is actually in his hand at those times.

@Mr_Mustache Therein lies the problem. I've completed all the quests, except for some of the DLC stuff, but those don't get check marks so I don't count them. There isn't anything left that I want to do, so I just tag along and help others with what they want to do. Except... there are a few quests in this game that I don't find fun, and would rather not do them. Which is pretty much any of the lvl 6 and higher DLC stuff.

I'm not sure if you know, but you don't need to be HR100 to join that quest, just to pick it. Anyone HR8 and above can join if you post it, and it will register as completed if they beat it, even if they don't have it on their lists yet. So you could do that one before other people reach 100.

I thought someone else wanted to get Alatreon stuff too, not just you, and I thought Cryojin was the one who wanted to take down the Big Styg.

Sorry if you don't like that stuff.. Is there anything else you want to do? Any Arena / Coin stuff? I like running those..

--Cryojin and I both need Alatreon stuff, and Cryojin and I BOTH want to beat the Big Styg. He's our white whale.

We were looking PRETTY STOUT with Chack on Tuesday, Lou. I think (when Anand is sleeping) if its you, me, Chack, and Cryo, we can put that guy on his back once and for all...not discrediting anyone. Its going to take a solid team effort though.

He actually begged off (Chack); says he needs a better weapon for him or something. HMM. Not sure when he'd be on again besides Tuesday. Maybe we could plan a special deal in here somewhere.
