Welcome to the Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate thread! This will be our headquarters for coordinating our Hunts, sharing stories of war, and helpful hints for our brothers-in-arms, compatriots, friends, and neighbors. Please be mindful of folks' different definitions of "spoilers," and remember that not EVERYBODY played Monster Hunter Tri on the Wii, though everybody totally should've.


The "burden" of running this thread has been placed upon me but...I can't do it alone. I will lean on Maxi and others to help with the heavy lifting occasionally, both in planning things and also in feeding this thread. Please keep it bumped (once we get going). If you could, let us know if you're getting this game, WHEN you're getting this game, and what your aspirations are so we can get us situated in groups with likeminded people. Do you want to barely play this game? Is this going to be your new #1? The most fun with this game is had when you get to go out with a group of guys week in week out, so if we can find someone with a schedule similar to yours, you'll have the most fun with it.

It's Chack's Monster Hunter cycle. Except he goes through it multiple times with each entry!

He's a good guy, though. A good guru.

It was kind of funny. Rob probably didn't enjoy it so much. I was getting freaking one-shotted. Or at least one-combo-shotted. I mean, I wasn't healing, but still...

I never made it on last night. I have baby anxiety! I was afraid he would wake up soon after starting to play, so I just went to bed instead. I should know by now that he's pretty good about sleeping right through. Tuesday night I'll be on come hell or high water!

You should have a speaker in your tv room to monitor the baby and a speaker in the baby's room to monitor the quest!

I do have that set up. Ours even has a video screen with night vision! It's pretty cool. I can even talk to him through it, like a voice from the heavens.

Not sure. I'll guess "boredom." I've seen this happen numerous times though, and I think he did the same thing with the Wii game. Hate to see it happen.

Yeah. I hope to be on by 10:30. History has been kind the past 3 days, as the boy has gone to sleep by then. Of course, some nights he enjoys being up until 1am. We'll see.

Last night was definitely a mixed bag. I upgraded a weapon (at least a half a dozen weapons need to be made!), but we ultimately fought to a time limit draw on Big Al. Disappointing, because I thought we were doing a good job with bombs, etc. Oh well. Maybe with 4 it would've been a different story.

I could've stayed on longer, as the boy ultimately never woke up. I think he just took a big dump in his pants. He did wake up right at 5am (8 hrs of sleep on the dot), so I didn't want to risk being a sad sack when he woke up this morning. Getting offline when I did was a nice balance. I got around 5 hrs of sleep, which is good enough for me.

I think Cryo's Axe is the difference. He and I ran it right after you left, in and out in 38 minutes (our new 2-person best, beating our old time by 7 minutes), 1 faint for Cryo, and a solid smattering otherwise. We also busted one of his horns, Cryo got his tail in the first 20 minutes, I think, and yeah; ultimately good. I feel bad when we fail missions with someone there, and then they leave and we find success. Bummer.

The power of the Critters shouldn't be ignored either. They're constantly healing and bombing. I dunno, next time we run it -- us 3 -- we're gonna win. The Sleepy Bowgun stuff doesn't seem to pay off, unfortunately (and the Defensive Drawbacks certainly don't help either).

Heeeelllllooooo!!

Sorry for going AWOL, real life crap and getting bored of the game got to me... was going through rough times and since I was only playing about once a week I decided to sell my wiiu. Once taxtime came around I got the urge to play again and bought another one.

Update I guess, my NNID is chackfalcon since I couldn't remember the email I used before... my goal was to finish every quest and I had them all done until my brachy urgent came up, then the urge for a pallium overwhelmed me and I gave in, so I'm hr7 now and just focusing on upgrades.

I work 6am-2 five random days of the week so my playtime is usually earlier, but I see there's a Tuesday date and I have Wednesday off so ill for sure be on then, and any other random late nights I can make it.
