I'd had a feeling they were too quiet recently, this is exactly the kind of news they needed to have before the holidays.

The Fit Meter really does look like a great piece of technology and giving exiisting balance board owners the game for free if you buy one is a great deal. Wii Sports Club w/ M+ and online is SO needed to justify that this machine is called 'Wii'.

Smart move. Now start marketting this, plus the new DK, WW HD and 3D Mario World games (with maybe a glimpse of MK8 and Smash 4) and we are getting somewhere.

Apparently it's download only and you purchase individual sports at $10 a pop. You can also download a 24 hour pass for $2. The sports are the original five from Wii Sports: bowling, golf, tennis, baseball and boxing. They've all been enhanced to support Wii Motion +. Hopefully more will come.

The really interesting thing is online multiplayer, which includes some sort of club system where you can compete against other online groups. Club Negative World anyone?

Anybody else caught off guard by Wii Fit trainer's intro? When she did the direct motion I was laughing. Also, I'm really excited for Wii Sports Club online plat with M+!!!

@Jargon

I like this idea. Bowling tournaments could be a lot of fun!

I'll be very surprised if they don't release a retail version at some point. Kind of weird they're not doing it now. You'd think they'd want people scooping it up on Black Friday. They should release it in a bundle with a Wiimote Plus. Or a kind of traditional Wii console SKU with Wii Sports Club and a Wiimote Plus instead of Nintendo Land.

@Jargon

I almost think they should turn Nintendo Land into an F2P. Include two games (one single player, one multiplayer) free, purchase the rest for unlimited play at, say $8 a pop. Or buy them all for $60. Something like that.

The Direct motion was pretty funny. Wii Sports Club looks interesting, but if they put all the Resort stuff in later too it could get pretty expensive. I like that they are adding online to it though.

Ecstatic about Wii Sports Club. Couldn't care less about Wii Fit, but i'm not the market.

Interestingly enough, just this weekend my nieces and I booted up the original Wii Sports for the first time in years. Baseball was fun but simple. Tennis felt really imprecise after having played so much table tennis. Wiimotion Plus should really improve that.

@ludist210

Yea. You gotta think this move suggests they are really trying to get people online and into the eShop.

I'm all over Wii Fit.

As for Wii Sports Club, I'm not sure. The $2 24 hour pass is kind of useless to me, because the times I'm likely to want to get it, I'll probably be away from Wi-Fi.

I'm pretty excited about the Wii Fit U news. My husband has been very vocal about his displeasure in waiting for this title. I'm happy that I can tell him he'll have it in a month, and for only $20. $40 if we both want Fit Meters. I was wondering what the damage would be by the time I bought the game and two meters, so I'm pleased.

Regarding Wii Sports Club, is there the option to choose who you play with, or are all the players set by the match-making software? I watched it twice, and I'm not sure.

Thinking about it, I wish there was at least one completely fresh sport. Baseball, boxing and tennis will probably feel different with WM+ but it won't compare with something like playing frisbee dog for the first time.

And will golf only have that one same course that I played to death back in 2006? That would be a shame.

@VickiL

The article I read on Joystiq said you could play with people within your "club".

@VickiL
That's a good question. At the very least it seems that you can limit matchmaking to your club, but you're right that they didn't go into any more detail than that. It could also be that clubs act as a lobby system to choose players to play against from and if you wanted to play someone in particular you can just meet in that lobby. A lot of sports games work that way.

Interesting pricing and distribution strategies. What's their aim here? Get more casual people introduced to the eShop? I like that they're experimenting, at least. The Wii Fit U deal is fantastic for balance board owners, and buying each Wii Sport separately is welcome. The daily pass could be a success as well.

Hopefully they make real improvements with Wii Motion Plus. Tennis and Baseball were pure waggle. Golf and Bowling improvements in Resort were slight, but they were already pretty good. I don't see Boxing getting any better, assuming the nunchuk is still your left hand.

I'm also hoping they add the Resort games to the club, like Basketball and Disc Dog and everything. Overall the quality was way higher than in the original Wii Sports.

Both Wii Fit U & Wii Sports Club are reasonably priced and seem to have a lot to offer. These are definitely the type of games that I'd go with download over retail for. It was such a pain in the butt to have to swap out discs on Wii for Wii Fit if you did it on a daily basis. The data collected and charted from the Wii Fit U meter is impressive. The whole community aspect of both games is a big draw.

@nate38

Baseball may be waggle, but for batting at least, I don't know what else it would be. The game is about timing your swing to hit pitches. Not much more to be done.

@Jargon
It would take an adjustment to the game too, but they could make you adjust for pitch location. Also, you could pitch in the original with simple flicks of the wrist more effectively than making a real arm motion.
