Played a ton of this game tonight. It's awesome, as expected. I've 100%'d the first 4 or so stages in the first world. Those daily challenges are really fun and mad addicting. I was trading best scores with Octorockin for a while, trying to catch Cryojin's score but I just came up short. I got it to about within a tenth of a second of his score, even though I flubbed up at one point, but before I could try again Ubi's servers went down! Next time you won't be so lucky, Cryojin!!! But yeah, competing against your friends' ghosts is really fun. I think I spent more time tonight doing that then actually playing through the main levels. And those Murfy stages are pretty awesome, I'm a bit surprised after hearing some backlash towards those. Unlike some "diversity" stages commonly found in platforming games (i.e. the flying levels in Origins, or the underwater levels in Wario Land: Shake It!), these hold up pretty well against the normal stages and almost feel like they could be their own separate game. Those stages are tailor-made for the Game Pad, in fact I'm not sure I could imagine playing those on anything else. Granted, I'm still early in the game, but the first couple of those stages were really cool. Between this and ZombiU, Ubi is doing really great things on the Game Pad and making the importance of both screens a very integral part of the gameplay. GelatinousEncore said:I did hear that on the Wii U when you play as Murphy single player you can't control Rayman. If true that's pretty bad, doesn't happen on the other systems. That actually sounds a lot worse, to be honest. I feel like controlling both characters in single-player wouldn't be any fun at all. The way they've done it on the Wii U gets rid of a lot of that clunkiness and allows you to just focus on the Game Pad screen. I imagine on other systems these levels just feel like worse, more frustrating versions of the regular stages whereas on the Wii U, they feel like something different altogether. |
