Animal Crossing: New Leaf Review (Nintendo 3DS) (9.7)  by
Animal Crossing... I still remember getting up early before heading to my high school classes just to see what Tom Nook was selling that day. This game series has always held such a dear place in my heart. I think it has to do with the fact that heading to the land of Plaisant, Tranquil, or other towns of mine always being a great escape for me. Making Bells, filling my catalog, and fishing in the ocean were always points of peace for me. While I've been very public about my discontent with AC: City Folk, I have a new-found hope once more for New Leaf. From all the information that has been dished out due to the game's release already in Japan, and Nintendo pushing more information through Nintendo Directs, I am confident this game will be a fresh take on a classic and comforting idea.

The game released in North America on June 9th, 2013 and released in other territories shortly after.

Please use this thread for all discussion on the game. If you would like to make trades or visit towns, please use the specific Animal Crossing New Leaf Trading Thread for further assistance. It makes more sense to keep this focused on the gameplay and game discussion while leaving bartering out of it. There are no Friend Codes this time around for Animal Crossing, which is a blessing! Many of us have already befriended ourselves via the 3DS Friend Codes Thread thread. That thread will be where we continue to befriend each other and trade 3DS IDs for the sake of visiting each other's towns.

Many many years ago I discovered a wonderful Animal Crossing website which has a great catalog feature set up. Now, the new game will mean it'll take time for the site to get a full correct catalog up and running but I expect it to work beautifully once more to allow anyone to track their catalog there. You can find this website at the Animal Crossing Community page. They also have forums there which are very active right now in anticipation of this game. Granted, the general age of the members of that site fall a bit lower than here, but I've found over all the years I've been there that the discussion is still mostly pleasant and easy.

Lastly, I want you all to enjoy the music from this new game or any of the games, whenever you want. The following site will allow you to hear the "Xam" or "Xpm" music that would naturally occur in your life right now as if you were in the game. You can select from any of the Animal Crossing games and the music will continually loop until the hour changes. It's pretty cool. You can find that page here. It's by default at the City Folk music.

So again, everyone enjoy this game! Enjoy this discussion! If you're interested in being negative about the title, just find your way to a different thread for that because this thread is about the experience and meant to bring the community together during the launch of one of the most community driven games Nintendo offers.

Say hello to Kapp'n, cause we're about to make it into town on June 9th.

(One more quick note; Keep an eye out for the game's review, which I will write sometime in the end of June probably.)

I haven't done that. My town is packed with trees... well in one concentrated area anyway. Speaking of those trees, is anyone online with Bell Boom and doesn't have peaches as their native fruit? I'll just sell these now cause I'm over 400 and I'm rolling in peaches

@VofEscaflowne

I'm not sure I'll ever find a scorpion or tarantula. I haven't even seen either yet. There's just too many trees in Pancakes.

I got bit by one my second day of playing AC. I ran into a tree, it fell out, and attacked. At that point I didn't have a bug net and had no clue what to expect. Hah!

@Abdooooo

It actually fell from the tree upon impact? Not sitting behind it? That's useful to know if you mean it literally fell from the tree.

Sold my perfect peaches and made a bit over 1.5 million Bells. Yeah, this works out well

@DrFinkelstein

It could have been a coincidence but the damn thing showed up right after I ran face first into a pear tree.

That reminds me...Saturday Vicki started falling and tripping constantly. One time she took a turn, tripped, and landed in a yellow rose, with petals flying everywhere. I couldn't help but flinch at the sight of face-planting a thorny rose.

How many did you sell?

@iAaronG

I had over 400 each going at 3600 Bells. Made 3 trips worth a bit more than 500,000 Bells each then a fourth one for a tiny bit more.

I don't care who you are: that's a lot of peach cobbler.

So took my usually nightly trip to the island...and spent 3 hours playing games to get those stupid medals instead of stocking up on money bugs.

Nabbed a Treasure Chest for a whopping 150 medals. What a pain.

In turnip news, I seem to be looking at a spike, withn a possible BIG spike peaking tomorrow morning (7 hours from now). Which will leave only a small window for you guys because I have to go to work soon after I get up...so be ready if you're around just in case there's a high price.

@Shadowlink

Because of your post, j spent the hour drive on my way to a work related meet and greet playing the island games saving up 152 medals for the future. I want that treasure chest!

Also, in other news I caught a tarantula last night finally. The first got me because of a silly mistake. Then I nabbed the next one.

@Shadowlink

The chest is rare and valuable--I'd have a tough time parting with mine because of how annoyingly long it took to get the medals for it!

@VofEscaflowne

Nice.

@TriforceBun

I figured as much! I don't know why. (It sure as hell doesn't sell for much at Re-Tail!). But I wanted it and I earned it, so I'm keeping it.

Bells are being stupid. 120,102,140,143,...139. Sure as hell looked like the start of a spike, but it looks like I have random pattern again. I'll probably sell up now.

I'm finding myself having a hard time building this one area with town projects. Started off with a flower bed which is fine where it is. But then I wanted a fountain next to it but after having built it, I realized its placement wasn't the best so I cancelled it. Upon cancelling it, I found out that you have to wait the next day before the building site actually disappears. Now today I built it in its right spot and donated the full amount... but later in the day, I realized that I could build that area better with lamp posts and hibiscus plants so now I'll destroy my fountain tomorrow cause you can't stop it once it's been fully paid off. Gah! 98k down the drain.

@VofEscaflowne

It was a 98,000 bell lesson.

I found this image on my SD card (did you know SD is DS backwards?! I just noticed that!) and added a caption for fun.
