Do you play less 3DS at home due to the Wii U gamepad? [roundtable]

I've noticed that I haven't been spending as much time playing 3DS at home, especially now that I moved into a smaller apartment, and the Wii U location easily allows me to take the gamepad anywhere for off-TV Wii U play. I still take the 3DS everywhere I go, but at home when I'm just feeling like a quick gaming session, I'm more often tempted to grab the gamepad than my 3DS. Obviously, it's all about what game you want to play, but at times when I'm not feeling anything in particular and just grab a device, it seems I have been neglecting my 3DS.

How has the Wii U gamepad affected your 3DS gaming at home?

Ugh. Why would anyone be playing the Wii U at ALL right now? That system is the pits.

My friend hates how Netflix on wii U doesn't support PCM and of course Nintendo won't pay up for DTS and Dolby even though Nintendo technically picked one of the best versions of audio

Nothing on Wii U has made me give up any amount of gaming on my 3DS. Right now, I mostly have my Wii U for my kids and the occasional round of ZombiU. Things will change, but the Wii U is pretty sluggish right now.

The funny thing is people think the PS4 and Xbone are going to change anything.

@GameDadGrant RUNNER2.

Actually there are plenty of games to play. I mean, not many OMG MUST PLAY games, but plenty of good ones.

New Super Luigi U and Game & Wario currently take me away from my 3DS when I'm at home. Other wise I'm browsing Miiverse and using the superior Wii U web browser and netflix, or playing some Nintendo Land with family and friends. Not to mention, the Monster Hunter 3 U game can go online on the Wii U, but can't on the 3DS for some reason. I can't wait for Miiverse support on 3DS, it will benefit the system so much.

I was playing 3DS a lot more before I got a WiiU. When I have a few minutes for remote play, I usually pick my WiiU and not my 3DS. The bigger game pad screen, better controls, and faster OS have spoiled me. I will probably get back to 3DS once I upgrade to a properly colored XL (i.e completely white, silver, or black system). Until that happens, my 3DS will continue to pick up dust.

Just another drop in the bucket of reasons..

I don't really use either much. As I mentioned on another topic, at home I want to play on the 55 inch tv, not a 5 inch screen.

That's cool. Enjoy what you enjoy.

I find that I've spent more time with 3ds and ds last generation then with consoles. It's hard to find time to game with wife and kids at home and everyone vying for time with the tv and or computer. I haven't used the Wii u pad as much as I probably should. Again though kids want to play Wii U more then the other consoles we own especially with being backwards compatible with Wii. Just a larger selection of kid friendly games. We don't allow them to play anything above teen and even the teen games I need to checkout before they play them. They are young.

Another reason I like the handhelds is that I feel like I can still be engaged with the rest of the things going on at home. Nice to watch tv and play at they same time. I know with the game pad I could do this too but like I said the Wii U is most played console in my house.

I am really enjoying nslu as well, great to play with kids. They can be nabbit nada stages are so quick. We just picked up game and wario and while I miss the old style wario ware type of games this is still really fun multiplayer game. Even in single player we just pass the game pad around.

Miiverse needs to be on 3ds already, really silly that it isn't. Should have been top priority after Wii U not the Internet version.

I'm waiting for monster hunter 4 on 3ds, seems like will be perfect game for hand held. It will have online
