Welcome to the official discussion thread for LEGO City: Undercover on the Wii U!

To start, please add this game to your log, add it to your collection (if applicable), and (when you are ready) rate it using the link above!

I love Legos. Always have. Always will. As I get older and discover the little bit of disposable income, I've found that besides video games, I occasionally will splurge on a Lego set. There's just something about the miniature world of Legos. Their mimicry of the real or fantasy worlds we're used to is something special. This new game, which releases in less than a week now, looks to take the Lego concept, strip it of it's usual franchise licensing, and do something in a complete new direction.

I just read a really wonderfully thorough review from Eurogamer and I wanted to post it to start this discussion thread. The game is just a few days away... are you getting it? Tell me how you like it! (or don't like it)

In addition, an important note for those downloading. I'll let the original speaker do the talking (also seen in the thread below).

For those interested in downloading the game, apparently you will need to have an external HD. Weird.

@nacthenud

Everyone in North America was getting screwed. But Deerock just posted in the other thread that the price on the eShop has been lowered to $50.

Well that's alright then. I'm ok with it as long as everyone is getting screwed equally. :p

@Guillaume

Well, looks like I'll be asking for my $10 back.

Deerock, let me know if you succeed!!!

Had to laugh at this earlier. Was saying on Twitter how the game is packed with stuff to do and one of the replies was someone asking me why I would want to do them since Nintendo systems have no incentive to do so. Ugh, I thought some of this ridiculousness of games having no trophies/achievements had died down a bit. I don't understand how that's incentive at all. I guess people do enjoy torturing themselves with boring games as long as they get rewarded with a lame score next to their username.

I called my GameStop (asking about tonight) and they don't have it in yet. Hmm..

Bollocks.

HA! I used "bollocks" in another thread today. Weird!

Bahahahahahaha. Oh new age gamers have so much to learn. They wouldn't last 5 minutes with older games without complaining about a lack of locked on disc content.

To cap off the perfect Monday, my Wii U shut itself down (seriously, really, truly hate this "power down after complete download" button) because I guess at some point it couldn't connect to the Internet. Nearly 6 hours estimated left on this download. 55% done...

@Mr_Mustache
Gamestop told me that they're hoping to get it in by Thursday. which is also the day I'm leaving on vacation for a week. I'll be waiting for awhile.

methinks its a plot to push the eshop some more. Especially with the $50 price

Poor Dave Grohl!

I picked this up today at EB Games, but they wouldn't give me the Chase McCain figure. Guess I should have pre-ordered. BOO!

About to start the game up...
03/19/13, 03:34
Was about 80% of the way done with the download, when I made the mistake of starting Runner2, forgetting that it crashes the system. Then I forgot that I shouldn't close the game down, and of course, the system locked up. Guess I won't get to play until tomorrow. Between shit like that and Runner2 losing its connection to the leaderboards, Gaijin seems to be trying hard to get me to never play Runner2/buy games from them again, to say nothing about the fact that the Wii U has locked up more since I've owned it than my PS3 and 360 have ever done, probably combined and doubled. Pathetic.

Sigh. I'll play Lego... some day...

@ploot

Oh boo, I figured they'd just have plenty I pre-ordered it Friday and still got it!

They said an administrator would be contacting me and that they were aware of the problem. They also gave me a follow-up number and case number. I believe them.

Anyway, the game is faboo so far. The kids need to be peeled off the Wii U while playing.

@Deerock69

I can definitely see this being a hit with the kids... though hopefully not lead to disappointment if parents choose this over the over the top violent GTA games "But mom this game doesn't let me beat hookers to death!"

@Deerock69

Excellent. My day has gone pretty terrible so far, so I'll try my luck tomorrow XD Decided to just email them instead.

After almost 20 hours, I have finally broken 5 hours remaining on my download! Looks like I won't get to play tonight...

I haven't played a Lego game since the first Harry Potter release. I am loving the writing. It's just so silly and genuinely funny.

I'm having a great time with this one.

@VofEscaflowne
I really wanted one, but I will survive. Although Toys R Us has them still... (they don't release the game until the 20th for some reason) Hmm...
03/19/13, 04:53
Wow, the more I play, the more I realize how huge this game is. Some of the sceneries will really make you go wow and really wonder how much more there is to explore. Great stuff!

WOOT!

Game rocks!

Humor is excellent!

Loving the vehicles!

I think this even might end up becoming a system seller after people see this game.
