I just got home from Gamestop moments ago, having picked this charming thing up.

I've only just turned it on even and already the 3D looks pretty amazing.

Rumor has it that this game has some confusing backtracking that can be tricky to some, so lets use this thread to discuss the game and help each other out if need be! Good luck!

Man that boss of 1-6 is... ug. It kind of hints to use a special sticker, but I don't think I had whatever I needed, so it was a long drawn out battle. Then the crown thingy insults me for not using the right sticker afterwards, but I DIDN'T HAVE IT.

Ah well, won, finally.

So I beat 1-6, trying 2-1 but the door wants two different kinds of mushrooms. The only other type I've seen is the poison shroom, which I only got once up to this point, tossed it out, and I don't remember where I got it.

Of course, it might just want a more powerful mushroom.

Ug. Fetch quests. What is worse is when you have a fetch quest and don't even know what you need...

I think you can buy a poison mushroom at the store in Decalburg.

Really? I just checked!? Maybe I missed it somehow.

1-5 sells them, Zero.

1st post from my Wii U!

Oh yeah, it was the shop in 1-5. Sorry bout that Zero.

Ah ok. Thanks!

I'm stuck trying to find the second wiggler segment, a task in the third world you could say. I'd like help but a nudge, a clue, not being directly told. When I ask that helper for a tip, she just says, "hmm where could that be?" More or less.

I'm liking the non-linearity of the progression, even though the base design is quite linear with the numbered "levels". About to tackle the first boss, I think.

@DrFinkelstein
That one baffled me too! *Dun-Dun-Tish!* Go on Google and type in "Paper Mario Sticker Star 3-5" Your answers are there...

@Brawler3DS EX

I'm wondering if it has to do with me needing a bowling ball item because it's so clear that there's a lane for it in one of the levels. I presumed it was somewhere inside a special door but I haven't found all of them yet.

I'll look into this soon. Thanks!

Started this game last night, it's really charming and fun, I'm actually enjoying it much more than I thought I would based on the reviews, though I totally do see Brad of Giant Bomb's point about being able to skip battles since you don't gain experience. Yes you do get coins in which to buy stickers but you're also using stickers to do battle so... all in all I wish there was another reason for the combat, I miss the experience points and leveling up.

My biggest complaint is Holy Freaking Jaggies Batman!!! This game looks like a mess on the XL and it's cutting my eyes to ribbons, I'm really baffled as to why Intelligent Systems didn't use any anti-aliasing, on the title screen it's especially apparent because the title has anti-aliasing but the characters do not, it's bizarre...

I'm getting a bit tired of the sticker mechanic, to be honest. I feel like avoiding enemies most of the time since there are no rewards besides coins of which I have plenty. And I never want to use my uber stickers because I don't know when and if I'll really need them. Still, I'm enjoying it a bit. But I just wish there was more incentive to actually battle enemies.

@anon_mastermind

The game pretty much wants you to use your strong stickers (like Shiny Fire Flower type stuff, not necessarily Thing stickers) liberally to get Perfect Bonuses. The more enemies you fight, the more likely they are to drop better stickers than the ones you have post-battle, and for you to get more money at the end upon nabbing the comet. It might seem a little strange at first, but fighting definitely improves your repertoire of attacks, as well as your familiarity with the stickers. That, and I just find it fun.

@TriforceBun
But is it necessary? I feel like in the other Paper Mario RPGs and in the Mario and Luigi games you had to kill practically every enemy to level up enough to defeat some of the harder bosses, in this game it feels like the battles are totally optional, which is... weird, fine but weird, fighting enemies in an RPG just for fun seems (perhaps ironically) very strange, ha.

I know what you guys mean, sometimes I question why I even bother fighting at all, because the more fun part of the game to me is the exploration and puzzles and such. Don't get me wrong, I actually like the sticker battle system (makes me use more moves than just BEST ATTACK + HEAL like most RPGs), but without any clear-cut benefits of fighting, it is tough to care that much.

Still... I like the game. But I'm starting to look at battles more as a penalty for me not avoiding enemies better...

I'm starting to avoid more of the enemies, too. Especially the ones that do a huge amount of damage. It's not worth all the stickers and damage. I do appreciate that there's the museum in Decalburg. So long as I have that, I'm able to hold back my hoarding tendencies, and I'll go ahead and whip out the shiny stickers in regular fights.

Grain of salt, since I just started Sticker Star, but I am absolutely loving the feel of this game so far! The exploration is really fun. Hell, just peeling the stickers is fun.
11/28/12, 17:21
I've become pretty awesome at avoiding battles with my master evasion skills. I have finished World 5 as well. Petey was no match for my Big Shiny Infinijump sticker.

Anyone wanna hint me more on the whole second wiggler segment better? I feel like its bowling ball related... But I can't find it. Just some direction or which level would be nice.
