I saw this on NinTemple.com. The new magazine is called Pure Nintendo Magazine. It will be bi-monthly so for the mathematically challenged that's six issues per year. Twenty bucks gets you a subscription and there are perks for those who want to donate more. Here's the link. I for one will be backing this. The internet is best for fast info of course, but there's just something about a real magazine that sets it apart.

Also, if you haven't checked out NinTemple's forums I hope you'll consider it. It's much quieter but has a nice core group of people including people like Negative World Podcast co-host NinSage (Joe). There's a link on Neg World's front page.

UPDATE: Pure Nintendo Magazine has added additional support levels with additional rewards.

For those that have never supported a Kickstarter project this was my first time and it was very easy. It just took a couple of minutes. Also the fact that I checked out via Amazon made me feel very comfortable that my money was safe.

For 20 dollars, I might jump in on this. I too enjoy Nintendo magazines and this seems to have a good amount of content.

I was even more sad when Nintendo Power went down than I thought I'd be. I was just saying I'd sub to N Gamer despite the cost difference then they stopped. My only other option before I saw this was ONM which at around $90 I still might do but this I am definitely going for.

I dunno Nintendo Power was the shiat because it had A LOT of exclusive news....even after Nintendo stopped owning them. If I wanted a Nintendo magazine I'd want that same exclusiveness that I couldn't find on a website somewhere. Or maybe they can start an online magazine as well. I do think theres not enough Nintendo love though

@Wellsy529Agreed. Nintendo seems to be controlling the word on their media and press a lot more as of late. I doubt this will have any exclusive information we don't already know from websites. Maybe if they did in-depth interviews and retrospects it can work. I'll consider it since I could use some good reading material.

It would be nice to have exclusives but I would agree with what others so far have speculated - namely that this magazine is not likely to have any or at least not many. Also of course the internet is the way to get the latest news on any subject. Still that's not why I subscribed to Nintendo Power, and it won't be a deterrent to me subbing to Pure Nintendo Magazine.

First off there's something about getting that new magazine in the mail. I mean, we get so much junk mail and bills that it's nice to get something I actually look forward to. Also just holding and casually flipping through the pages, admiring the artwork (without ads on the side of every page) reading the articles and special features, it's a refreshing tactile feel instead of clicking a mouse or swiping the glass pane of an iPad. If that means little or nothing to many people I get that but I, and I'm guessing others still enjoy it in addition to our usual surfing.

I guess I'll make the rather weak observation that technically any article or feature written specifically for the magazine is an exclusive (kinda sorta).

Of course there's also the fact that these are dedicated Nintendo fans trying to start something potentially special here. It would be nice to be a small part of that.

It doesn't go through unless the Kickstarter hits its goal. Afterwards, they have a system in place where the person behind it has to deliver, or refund everyone's money.

Basically, the same idea behind any online transaction like eBay, etc.

Well I hope so Ploot. Right now they still have a ways to go to be funded. I hope that everyone that's interested goes ahead and pulls the trigger. If so, and PNM gets funded, every time you open up an issue you can remember that you helped make it possible in a truer sense than any magazine you simply subscribed to.

DrFinklestein, they do have some basic info on their Kickstarter paged I linked to above. Apparently they originate from the Zelda Informer website. A NinTemple member frequents there and posted about it. Here is a link to a page with info at Zelda Informer. And here is a link to Pure Nintendo Magazines digital version.

Like any new venture there's no guarantee of success - as I'm sure you're well aware =) I just look at it this way. If they make it I will enjoy it and feel proud to have helped it along. If not I'm sure we'll get at least a few issues and that - to me at least - would be worth the twenty dollar risk. I've risked more than that with a lot of games that I've purchased.

Also if this makes any difference, in that one podcast when you asked NinSage and gamewizard65 "DrFinklestein or Dr.Robotnik" unlike them I said a resounding "DrFinklestein!!"..... True story.
