Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Review (Nintendo WiiWare) (9.0)  by
I'm currently playing Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney on the Wii, and this is my first time playing it. I remember my husband playing one of the Phoenix Wright games on our way to Canada, and I was intrigued by the game.

This is now my chance to actually play the game. I wanted to start playing this before Wii U comes out. Actually, this game is pretty interesting. It's not that complicated as I used to remember watching Eric play. It could be because I'm in the early trials.

I'm currently on the third trial which is the Turnabout Samurai. The game has a lot of twists and turns and very funny dialogue! So far I'm pretty much enjoying this game.

"Take that!"

@GameDadGrant The games are pretty hard to find on DS anymore. Especially the second two. They're still going for $20+ on Amazon, and that's used. Better to just snag them off WiiWare for eight bucks.

@GameDadGrant

Because the Wii version is cheaper .

Amanda and I were interested in this, but I think at some point we might be checking out this Sherlock Holmes game. Looks like a cool detective game.

Is the DS version really superior though?

Anyway, the main reason May and I went with the WiiWare version is because I wanted to introduce her to the series, and what better way than playing on the big screen so we can help each other out?

This game holds up remarkably well, even after having finished the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd DS games (I hadn't realized Apollo Justice is officially the fourth in the main series! I need to get my hands on that one.)

I thought this game would have pointer controls? But there seems to be no options for that. I'm not a big fan of having to move the cursor manually using the D-Pad, with the Wii remote held in the vertical position. (Maybe that's why Grant says the DS version is superior, among other reasons like portability, etc.).

You know what I find most interesting about this WiiWare port? It's the #1 rated WiiWare game on Negative World, with plenty of margin! World of Goo, BIT.TRIP Runner, Cave Story... these games can't hold up to the power of Phoenix Wright!

Great game. What's awesome about the Phoenix Wright series is that each game is better than the last. I still need to play Apollo Justice.

This game looks horribly pixelated blown up to TV resolution but it's still amazing. Enjoy!

I haven't played the WiiWare version, but everyone should experience this game (and the whole series) in some format. The DS games are pretty much my favorite games on the system.

I can't wait for the new hi-res iOS version.

In this day and age, every game for which it is technologically possible should be available to play both on the big screen and in portable form. For me, personally, there's more handheld games that I would rather were play on my TV (2D Castlevanias please!) than console games that I would rather play on the go, but the choice should basically always be present.

I guess my point is, three cheers for Phoenix Wright!

I finished episode three, that was a very interesting trial regarding the steel samurai.

Now I'm having some trouble with episode four (turnabout goodbyes). For example, I did not know to present the Gourdy article on Lotta's testimony about why she was focused on the boat. I thought I had to present the gun or the camera.

Anyway, it's fun to see the characters interact. The new prosecutor, Von Karma, is very strict! Also, I like learning more about Edgeworth and Phoenix's past.

The Steel Samurai episode is awesome. Currently my alarm is the Steel Samurai theme that Phoenix uses as his ringtone

@Snorlax

Yeah, that was confusing about presenting that evidence, we couldn't figure it out for a while...

Anyway, playing this game again reminds me: I looovvvve the localization, the dialogue is genuinely funny at times.

And one benefit of playing this game on WiiWare is hearing the great soundtrack on the big speakers. Such a delight.
