This morning I picke ethe last copy of this game up at GameStop. I knew I was gonna start playing it the moment I beat xenoblade, and that time is now!

I'm hoping more people are playing this game. I didn't bother to read any reviews of this game because there has yet to be a tales game I did not love, that I played of course!!

I will update this thread with impressions shortly.

If you have the game, please, let us discuss it here!

I am really pissed off right now. I didn't even know the game was releasing this month. I only had my eye on SSX for PS3. Not to mention I didn't even know about Tales of Graces f releasing next month on PS3. How are we supposed to buy these games if nobody advertises them?

@shinriley you have to be addicted to looking for game news. For one thing, ign didn't cover this game for the u.s. launch that I know of, but nintendoworldreport.com did a good write up about it right before it released.

Yeah, It was sold out pretty much everywhere we went in Montreal. The clerks were like "You didn't preorder!?"... Oh well, screw them. I got mine at amazon.ca. Cake!

@Davoid I was at best buy today with a few friends, it's right next door to the restraunt we like to eat at regularly, and they were sold out of Tales and they only had three copies left of their second shipment of resident evil. Third party 3ds sales are looking good.

Got it off Amazon but haven't had a chance to play it. Will be going into it this weekend having never once played the game, though I did want to back when it first released but didn't own a PS2.

@Scrawnton

It's a bit of a slower start for Abyss than Symphonia, but give it a little time. You'll get to see the much improved battle system, how customizable it is, and wait until you start using FoF changes...those are a lot of fun.

I understand the game starts slow. I just got to a castle that I was asked to go too. I cant remember the name but I'm six hours in. I love the game but did it really take the game six hours to tell me I can be ambushed by enemies? And I have ambushed enemies too but nothing changes in battle, do I have to wait for a certain story scene that then allows me to surprise attack the enemies? It's no big deal but if so, bth of those should have just been introduced at the beginning of the game.

I just finished choral castle. On my way out I challenged a mysterious sword and I lost. So now ima grind a few levels and take that thing out and see what's going on with it.

I think the story is getting pretty good. I like how everyone has a weird, mysterious past.

That is great! I hope this bodes well for WiiU now. You know, for Wii, we had to wait the end of the console's lifecycle to get the best in hardcore gaming. This can't happen on WiiU. Also, Nintendo Direct tomorrow. *hopes for the best*

RE might have sold out legitimately, but I think that Namco shipped, like, twelve copies of Tales.

I'm almost done with work. I'm getting impatient, I want to go home and try to beat this sword demon thing in choral...

I beat the sword and my reward was a ton of experience but nothing else but a vague reference to a rematch in the future... Ugh.... Atleast I'm super strong lol.

Holy Cow. 15 hours in and the story revelations that I just saw are amazing. The story has really picked up in a deep way in this game. I wish I had time to sit with this one but oh well. This will be my slow burner... I wish I saw more Abyss players on my friends list...

@Scrawnton

I started playing it but I'm not sure I'll keep on playing for now. Xenoblade is still being played and focusing on two at once... seems a bit much right now haha. But at least I did buy it!

@VofEscaflowne I was doing an hour a day for a several days but haven't played in a few... I really want to get back to this one.

Hehehehehe, the story in Abyss is quite fun and glad you're enjoying it. Not sure what part you've hit now, but if you haven't gotten to any of the real major part, then you're in for some more good stuff.

@CB200 I discovered the world below after general grants turned out being evil and Luke was a replica of thenoriginal asch who was the real noble who was kidnapped seven years ago. I just returned to the outer shell via the sephiroth.. I am really really excited to see where the story goes from here!!!

I don't have a 3ds, but I have played the Ps2 version of the game. Hope you're enjoying it more than I did the for the first couple of hours.
02/29/12, 06:03
@DSLeet the game really does take a couple of hours to pick up, 10 hours to be exact. The story is actually great now, as is the world. I just wish exploration at this point wasn't limited by me trying to leave a town to explore a new continent and the the main character just says "we are supposed to be going somewhere else." the game is much more linear that ToS at this point but it's still great.

You know, this game keeps getting crazier and crazier. Definitely a great game and it's lovely on 3ds. I wish I could just spoil the story by talking about it with someone...
