Hey guys, I just found out about this awesome site! Anyway, I'm Hugo Smits and I'm the endboss of Goodbye Galaxy Games.

Under this flag I created Flipper last year (for DSi-Ware) and I'm here to tell you about my new game;

Flipper 2: Flush the goldfish!

As with Flipper I did all the programming,tools, level design, game design and promo! Paul Veer and Roy Nathan de Groot did the artwork!

The game is about a superhero goldfish that has to rescue his master - and best friend - from evil monsters!

Check out this new trailer to get a good feel for the game :

Hope you like it!

At least it's game related and not someone trying to get us to buy some Nikes.

I thought this was a Nintendo forum, and my post was about a new game for a Nintendo system.
Because of this, I thought my post was relevant and allowed.

If it is really regarded as spam, than I apologize!

Can anybody link me to the rules regarding this topic ? I tried to search for it (the welcome PM) but I couldn't
find anything about this! thanks in advance!

@HugoSmits

No, it's cool, man.

edit - The game looks cool, actually! Different from what I expected, based on the name.

@HugoSmits

Haha, the way posted made it seem like it was possibly a bot or you were just pasting that on any site you could find. If not and you really are interested in the forum I'm sure everyone here would think it was awesome to hear thoughts from a WiiWare developer (podcast interview?)

I’m just a regular Nigerian prince who happens to enjoy game development

I honestly only posted this message on this forum. I only have a few forums that I really visit (such as Nintendolife.com) on which I really participate. It seems to work much better than to just randomly spam forums.

The games I make are for a more ‘hardcore’ audience. And use old skool pixel art and chiptunes! Because of the design of the forum and because of some topics about other indie games (such as the bittrip series) I thought this might be a good place to get in contact with a few people that like my kind of games!

Hm. Interesting. I just watched the trailer - I take it you're a fan of Earthworm Jim, eh?

The game looks pretty cool! And unfortunately I had not even heard of the first Flipper before, but some of the reviews has me intrigued, for sure.

Watching the video you posted, yeah @GameDadGrant, it's fair to say Earthworm Jim has some influence on the game design. I like the goldfish's variety of moves in and out of the suit.

Ahhh.. thought we had a spam bot. As long as you actually talk about stuff other than pimp'n your games, I'm cool with ya. Not that I hold any power to do anything Welcome to Negative World!

Yes! Not just that.. I love 90s cartoons and videogames. And I try to put that into my games.

I don’t like the fact that modern games barely have colors in them and don’t want to be weird and goofy.

Believe it or not, the actually character isn't inspired by Jim! A lot of people liked Flush in Flipper 1, so I wanted to make him the main hero in this game. However, he was just a fish in a bowl and couldn’t have; hence the suit!

The gameplay and weirdness is definitely inspired by Earthworm Jim, but even more so by Doug Tennapel (creator of Jim and a few more games). He made such awesome and weird worlds.

@PabloX15
Haha, okay cool! I blame it on the fact that I had to do a lot of interviews this week and get everything ready for the release. I barely slept, I will try not to sound like a robot in the future haha ;)

@HugoSmits

Yeah I think it too was the fact that your first instance on this site (where we generally get used to peoples names who post regularly and such). So to see a brand new name advertising a game, it's something unique for our daily viewership.

But welcome to Negative World! And it's pretty cool that you're into game development. We look forward to having you on the forums.

So we're getting more and more developers I see...

Are we going to get the creator of Super Bat Puncher to join as well?

@CPA Wei

I dunno if he's interested in doing the forum thing as we do it but Julius is a good guy and we'd love to see him here.

And Flipper 2 has released today.

I only wish HugoSmith were still alive to see this day.

Oh, right, I heard he was buried alive under a mountain of DSiWare shovelware. Sad story

I bought this game.

Even though it's said RIGHT ON THE SITE which I HELPED LINK TO, I failed to realize this was a "one button game". i.e. the character moves forward automatically (most of the time) and pressing A does one specific action per screen, for instance one screen you may have to press A to shoot, the next to swing the fish as a weapon, the screen after that it may make you jump over obstacles, and sometimes you might suddenly have to mash A to take each step.

It's alright. The big problem I have with it is that you really don't get enough time to react, most of the time. You get an indication of what the button does on the secondary screen, but you have no time to read that AND react quickly enough to what's on the main screen. So you fail, and you memorize, and eventually you get through it because you've learned the level...

In a way, it's not completely different from the way, say, Wario Ware works. But Wario Ware has more variety and is generally funnier.
