A fully playable demo will be shown off at E3 this June.

IGN just reported it.

Not sure how I feel about this. Excited, yet worried at the same time.

This will be the best E3 I've ever been to. I'm ecstatic!!!

You should add in the OP that there will be playable demos and it's scheduled to launch in 2012.

Done, and already done since it says that in the title

Also, this is my first New thread I've made, so what's this "As article" option I'm seeing?

@Brick

That option is for if you want to see what this thread looks like as an article (for visitors of this site that aren't NW members).

Please Nintendo. Let most of the rumours be true. I love the touch screen idea but I wouldn't DIE without it. I'd be disappointed if we lost it but what I absolutely require is high tech. I think the third parties and core require it too.

Nintendo just needs to get third parties on board and on board WELL. Online is also very important to me, developers, the core, etc.

Tech and online Nintendo. Do it.

It pays to believe every once in a while!

So what are they gonna demo? I was watching the Gamecube Spaceworld Reels just last night and I was getting a bit emotional. That was the last time (yes only a generation ago) I felt Nintendo was gonna hit it out of the park. Regardless of how the GC era turned out, that was the most excited I ever was in my life for anything (pretty much, seriously). When I saw the Zelda, Metroid, Waverace, Luigi's Mansion footage, etc...it was MIND-BLOWING. Let's hope Nintendo can capture that again this year.

I'll never forget I came back from a trip to El Salvador 2 weeks later and when I went to IGN I was met with the announcement of the Gamecube with tons of info, videos, pics, you name it. That was one of the happiest times of my life. To my recollection I had never even heard any rumours about the N64 successor at that point. Sitting down to your internet to see the reveal of a new console after 2 weeks in a third world country...just fucking mind-blowing.

I can't expect Nintendo to deliver that feeling to me again, but I can only hope.

And now come to think of it I'm completely shocked that Nintendo will be dedicating this E3 to Wii 2. I mean, what about the 3DS? It's such a strange move. Nintendo is going to make E3 2011 it's bitch.

Sony and MS must be absolutely shitting their pants right now.

As long as they don't ruin it by showcasing a bunch of Wii Music tech demos

I can't say I'm too excited for the console though... yet. The rumors haven't really been exciting, or maybe I just don't understand the use of it in games, and the rest of the features are pretty standard right now. Still, I'm curious as to what they'll do to stand out from the crowd.

If the new console is releasing in 2012, I find it odd that it will be playable at E3 this year. If it was releasing later in 2012 you'd think it would be playable at E3 2012 instead of E3 2011. This leads me to believe that the Wii 2 (or whatever it's called) could be released in the first half of 2012, just like the 3DS did this year.

@canonj
I think so too. Well people are guessing Summer release it seems? Apparently it won't be out before March though since Wii 2 wasn't included in the sales forecast for that time.

I do find it very very strange they'd announce it so early, have it ready and playable this year, and wait an ENTIRE year to release it. That just gives Sony and MS time to copy them and catch up. I thought Nintendo liked holding shit close to the chest? I wouldn't be horribly surprised if it released late this year or very early next year. Next Winter though? Way too far away.

So it's officially the 'Cafe' for now, and it'll get a proper E3 unveiling for a 2012 release.

Those are some tasty facts! I suspect we still won't see the extra twist this June, what do you guys think? I guess maybe if they're shooting for spring 2012 we might get full disclosure but otherwise...

@carlosrox I'd die without a touch screen, or motion controls, or something interesting. Nintendo pretty much started the trend towards making gaming hardware interesting again, no way should they abandon that.

I know, this is for the investor's meeting. I get it. Yes, that's business.

Still, I can't help but be HORRIBLY disappointed somewhere deep inside with the way they handled this reveal. A bunch of text without any substance? I remember the days when new consoles were held on high for the first time in some sort of super media blowout that shocked everyone. This is dullsville and really kills a lot of the excitement I might have had. Yeah, that's just the last bit of gamer in me wishing for the good old days, but still.

I expect the "playable" aspect at E3 to be a few test demos like they showed at the Wii debut in Japan the firs time. Nothing remotely close to actual games. Which is fine by me because if you're launching in 2012 I think mid-2011 is way too early to start this process, especially with the 3DS just released. Poor 3DS, clearly you are going to be completely overshadowed. That's a real shame. I had such high hopes for the system.

Frankly it's left a bitter taste in my mouth. The way they're shoving the 3DS to the side has me wondering if I should even get the new console at launch. Maybe I'll just wait 6 months to see if they announce something else brand new.

I will get to play it! Wooooo!

Unless it's one of those "press conference meeting only" things.

@-JKR-

They're just announcing the announcement. There is no reason to be bitter about this. E3 is where stuff gets revealed, you know this.

And it's silly to think this is the end of the 3DS. I mean, seriously? "Shoving it to the side"? There are going to be a ton of games shown for it at E3. What other games would they show? Wii games?

lol
