I have to warn you right now, we're spoiling two new playable fighters, so if you want to come into the new Smash Brothers totally clean well... good luck with that! It appears that the Wii U version is going with a style closer to previous Smash Brothers games (but in glorious HD), while the 3DS version is shooting for a more cell-shaded style?

New to the roster are "Villager" from Animal Crossing and Mega Man from, well, Mega Man!!! Oh man. I can already tell you that the second one is going to be one of my main fighters.

Both Smash Brothers games are due in 2014.

Check out the trailer below and stay tuned for more details!

Honestly, I think after Brawl, they kind of pushed Nintendo's characters as detailed as they'll go without altering the character designs themselves. I think it looks great, although the visuals have kind of plateau-ed.

I appreciate the detail in capturing Mega Man's 8-bit style and animations as well.

Well, it's not the characters, they look fine. It's the levels themselves. They certainly can look a lot better. It's like they took the Brawl engine and are just using that with no improvements. Hopefully that will change as it progresses. Mega Man's level looks cool though.

@TriforceBun Then they should make them stylised! It'd be nice if for once, they actually looked like they came from the games they're from, instead of some generic, plain look like what they are now.

Miyamoto said they are going to be announcing new characters over E3.

Well, I guess I wasn't too far off with my Wii Balance Board character idea!

...Though, mine would have been better, crazily enough...

Teared up at the Megaman part. That was beautiful.

He deserved to be in that game more than ANYBODY.

@TriforceBun

That's...hilarious if accurate! Are we sure she isn't an assist trophy? She's not on the site yet, and that would make more sense...

I was disappointed to see the new art style until I realized that it was for the 3DS, then I was really happy with both.

Wii Fit Trainer looks like more fun than I ever would have imagined. Pretty cool! I'm on board with the addition.

Interesting how they changed up Bowser. Looks like he is going to be a lot faster and more agile.

I not sure what audience her character really fits....because I don't think many of the people who play wii fit also play smash BUT I do like her addition to the game

Love it. Love the Villager and his Balloon Fight balloons. Love the Wii Fit Trainer as an out-of-the-blue character addition.

And oh yeah that blue guy I guess

I have no idea where to begin on this whole discussion... so I wont right now.

@Mop it up

I'm okay with another Brawl... but I get your sentiment and I DO agree to a point. I don't really know how much different I want it to be and how similar I could stand. Too soon to tell.

Little interest in Village boy and even less so in Trainer girl.

People see Brawl upres from this? Looks great to me.

Yeah I'm loving the way this game looks. EDIT: One thing I don't like is the swooshing attack effects. I always hated the look of those, but they seem more subtle here than in most games.

And even more, I'm loving that the Smash Bros site is back. Sakurai's humor really shines through, even if he isn't going to do his updates like he did for Brawl (and apparently Kid Icarus Uprising...in Japanese only)
