Yep, we still don't have an official name nor any kind of confirmation as to whether this is a Xenoblade sequel or not, but we did get some... walking?! Just kidding, once you get past the walking it's a pretty sweet trailer, and it is definitely one of our most anticipated games here at Negative World!

Look at all of those mechs!

"X" is currently slated for a 2014 release.

Since Xenoblade is one of my most beloved games ever, I'll make sure to be there for X day one, but holy shit that music has to go.

Only played a bit of Xenoblade. I should've picked it up when it was at a reasonable price. Even so this game looks much better to me. Gotta love those mechs!

Looks pretty epic. Surprised me, especially when he was walking through that huge city. Cool stuff, if it plays like Xenoblade I'm in. I loved how that game played.

Flying sea creatures? Check. J-Pop? Check. More than three hues of gray-brown? Check. I love me some JRPG. I'm too old and busy to play them anymore, but I'll make the exception for you, Monolithsoft.

I don't feel like this trailer really showed anything. Still waiting to see... pretty much everything.

I agree. It's very pretty but I have no clue what it is exactly. It was described as an open-world game. Ooookay.... And???

@ploot

Animal Crossing type game?

The big thing to take from this is what Iwata was saying,.. that big sprawling world. It sounds like Xenoblade on steroids and without load times if not for maybe small ones periodically. It also looks much more alive at times than Xenoblade. That paired with the initial trailer has me freakin' stoked!

Rocco from Mega64 said that there were Xenogears references in the trailer. Maybe the stories will link up? I haven't played any Xeno games besides Xenoblade.

@DrFinkelstein I think the large world was evident from the initial trailer, but either way, I'd like to see some real gameplay. Real in the sense that something's going on. We've hardly even gotten a glimpse of the character, they don't even show the face.

@Secret_Tunnel
There is a possibility, but considering Nintendo doesn't have the rights to Xenogears, I doubt the two will be too heavily linked up. My personal theory is that Xenoblade set the stage for X. The original title of Xenoblade was Monado: Beginning of the World, and considering the way Xenoblade ended, with Shulk more or less becoming god and creating a new world, the way the X environments have elements from Xenoblade locations like Eryth Sea and Bionis Leg, and the way the first trailer had a face looking suspiciously like Shulk at the end of it, I think we might be gettting to experience the world of Xenoblade in a distant future.

I'm only 40 hours into Xenoblade so I can't speculate on the connection, but I was probably most excited by this part of the Nintendo Direct. Game looks gorgeous and we already know the foundation for the gameplay and Monolithsoft's skill for characters and story is first class.

This is the kind of game Squaresoft should still have been making in 2013.
