It's a mere four days from the release of Animal Crossing New Leaf on 3DS. To celebrate this wonderful fact of life, Ninsage joins me, DrFinkelstein, in the first ever special edition of the Negative World Euphonic podcast! In this episode we dive into ten K.K. Slider songs from the original Animal Crossing game for the Nintendo Gamecube. Between each of these we discuss not just the songs, but the series itself, and I spend some time debating with Ninsage on why he should get his feet wet for the first time.

We hope you enjoy this special edition. There was no word of it's coming and no prior nomination/voting thread. This is just pure celebration! So kick back and enjoy... the coolest dog-musician gaming has ever known... and his wildly unique vocal ability.

Comment on the music, the show, etc. on Negative World, Facebook or, Twitter.

Enjoy the show!

Full list of episodes

Episode Available in Both .mp3 and .m4a formats. Enhanced version contains chapters for each song.

Negative World does not own the rights to any of the songs featured on the podcast. This is a non-profit appreciation podcast and the rights belong to whoever owns them at the time of release, most likely Nintendo.

I'm wondering if I should actually be excited about this game. I only briefly played AC on DS and didn't really get into it, probably because I didn't have any friends to play it with.

I'm going to vote a resounding YES to that Pogue. You and the girlfriend will have a blast. You'll have local play fun on the same cart and wireless fun with all of us playing it.

Yeah we'll have to figure out how to use it together. I guess we'd have to alternate using it every week or something hmm.

Methinks someone is a bit excited about this "Animal Crossing" thing.

I definitely loved the music in the past games, so I'm going to enjoy this podcast!

I have a new found respect for K.K. Slider. This was a fun listen while I drew some sketches.

Only 2 episodes in and you are already having very special episodes? What next are you and Sage going to get molested by the bike store owner?

@Zero

Yes sir.

@Abdooooo

Glad you enjoyed the show!

@chrisbg99

Where is this referencing... it's familiar. Where does that happen? lol

Though really, this was an evolution of a previous idea I had and well, Joe and I run the podcast so we might as well make a timely special when appropriate. If it weren't for the release of New Leaf, this wouldn't have happened yet.

@vids

I hope it's at least up there with Bowie. I would understand if it wont pass his greatness.

Dang, me being sick the last few days and I mistakenly used the standard Negative World logo instead of the Euphonic one. I mean, it's just a placeholder anyway as we work on getting official art, but still.

My husband (vids) was playing it this morning and i couldn't stop laughing. First off at poor Ninsage, lol. I felt for him, lol. But i also laughed at how you really put a lot of thought into K.K. Slider's song, like he was a real person and not a cartoon dog.. i couldn't stop laughing, u guys are silly

I was playing this episode last night and my wife overheard the music and just laughingly said: "you guys are weird" =P

I LOVE IT. Hearing KK Slider tracks get serious analytics was crazy and fun. This was the perfect way to start my day and get hyped for Animal Crossing (3 MORE DAYS). My 5mo son was listening while I was doing chores in the same room and he got both excited and happy when the KK tracks were playing.

My favorite quote on K.K. Condor track "That song sounds very southwestern united states desert kind of place where there might be condors flying overhead."

@wickedsymphony @vids

Glad to hear these comments! I'm glad that vids and the vidkid appreciated the podcast so much. What I appreciated the most about doing this was just focusing on Animal Crossing a bit also and not so much just trying to analyze the songs. I know we discussed each song but at times we spun off topic into AC discussion and it came off nicely organic I think.

I hope that the levels on the airchecks were good. I wanted them subtle. The discussion was prime focus. However I wanted it to still be audible.

Initially I thought I wouldn't involve Joe since I didn't think he'd care. I was mistaken and I think having a huge fan paired with a n00b was a totally good pairing for this. For a K.K. exposure.
