As well as the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Read the press release below, watch the announcement trailer, and let us know what you think about this game!

SAN JOSE, Calif., (May 14, 2013) Leading video game publisher and developer NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc. is thrilled to announce that Pac is back! PAC-MAN™ and the Ghostly Adventures will be coming to North and Latin American retailers in fall 2013 for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, and Wii U™ system from Nintendo with an exclusive side-scrolling version of the game coming to the Nintendo 3DS® fall of 2013. Built upon the timeless and wildly successful PAC-MAN® legacy, PAC-MAN and the Ghostly Adventures will boast an entirely new and exciting gaming adventure that is currently under development.

PAC-MAN and the Ghostly Adventures follows the exciting storyline and charming characters from the highly anticipated PAC-MAN and the Ghostly Adventures animated series created and produced by Avi Arad, acclaimed director and founder of Marvel Studios. The animated TV series, based on NAMCO BANDAI Games’ classic PAC-MAN property, will begin airing on Disney XD®. The game revolves around the vibrant universe of Pac-World, where Pacworlders lived in peace until the mischievous Netherworld ghosts, led by their wicked leader Betrayus, escaped from their ghoulish domain to forcibly take control of Pac-World. Pac-World’s only hope lies in the last surviving yellow Pacworlder, our hero with a voracious appetite.

Not only will PAC-MAN and the Ghostly Adventures feature a revamped PAC-MAN universe, but it will also hearken back to PAC-MAN origins with classic elements such as Ghost encounters. The Ghost-chomping mechanics return from the original PAC-MAN but with exciting powered up variations in PAC-MAN and the Ghostly Adventures, creating an innovative yet familiar gameplay experience.

“The PAC-MAN franchise has touched millions of gamers and non-gamers since its humble beginnings more than 30 years ago,” said Carlson Choi, Vice President of Marketing and Digital Sales at NAMCO BANDAI Games America. “With its long-standing history, PAC-MAN and the Ghostly Adventures emerges as a new and reimagined PAC-MAN universe that still retains classic gameplay elements that will appeal to a whole new generation of gamers.”

It looks like an odd mash-up of The Munchables (a Wii game that Bandai-Namco released a while ago) and Pac & Roll...not sure how I feel about it, but I'll reserve judgment until we see a more complete build.

Looks really clunky off the bat. It's a shame because I love Pac-Man.

Also...what's up with that 'biting' sound effect? It sounds awful. At least not for a standard biting sound effect. They couldn't make something that remotely sounds like his familiar "wak-wak-wak" sounds?

Hmmm... I like the idea. But it looks like it'll control pretty badly.

Still, fingers crossed. When it comes down to it, I've probably never cared about a video game character as much as I cared about Pac-Man as a little boy. Pac-Man bed sheets. Pac-Man spaghetti-o's. Pac-Man commemorative glasses.

And this:

I think I'm gonna stick with the NES game (until the glorious day will arrive when I'm able to build an old-school, Pac-Man arcade machine). But hey, it would be cool if this turned out to be good, so here's hoping.

Speaking of Pac-Man, I stumbled upon this song from Ms. Pac-Man Maze Madness just now:

Holy crap, it's so catchy it hurts! I never got to play this game since it seems the N64 version never hit PAL territory, but now I really want a copy.

They get allllllllllllllllll the games, even the ones that don't fit their fucking market, but we don't get THEIR games when they "don't fit the market".

Fuck off videogame industry with your bullshit bias.

"Funny" how that works, eh? What hypocrites.

Also, thanks for always fulfilling Negative World's F-bomb quota for the month, lol.

I hope this turns out to be decent. I can never have enough 3D platformers in my life.

Meh. Rather just replay Pac N' Roll.

Imagine if this is their big E3/Direct Megaton.

That'd never happen.

This pretty much guarantees that Pac-Man will be in Smash Brothers.

@carlosrox Because now he'll have been in a recently-released game, and his inclusion can also double as an advertisement.

Is that Pac-Man Fever? Yes!

I always say this, but I had the cassette.

Do the Donkey Kong!

It's actually a weird-ass "story and songs" kids' record from back in the day. Very odd. I'm considering doing a Top 10 on it, but it requires a bunch of work and I'm lazy.

Do a feature!

I'll do an accompanying musical analysis of the Pac-Man Fever album.

No, I won't.
