@Pokefreak911Haha, I had that scare too The screen also blacked out a few times and would just freeze but it resumed without any issue. I hope it was just a case of when updating stuff on a computer and how it gives a warning that your screen may black out at times.

I tested without hard drive, and it may have gotten worse. 25 seconds in the plaza before the loading screen showed up. edit - Wait, no, it fixed itself overnight apparently.

Got it last night, the loading is much quicker between game to main screen but they do mask it. I've noticed it a lot more when opening an app, as it hangs there for a couple of seconds before moving forward. Haven't seen it on the other side, but it's much better than before.

Menus are noticeably faster. Nice! Firmware updates FTW!

Now when will we get folders? I wouldn't mind putting all my apps in one folder, my demos in another, my VC games in another, etc. The update seems better but I have to still play around with the Wii U to see how much of a difference it makes in my day to day usage.

Everything is quite a bit faster. Not fast, but now somewhat acceptable. They need to keep their heads down and keep these updates coming at a good clip.

@PogueSquadronYeah, I want folders and also the option to resize the icon screen like you can on the 3DS.

Man, games, apps like netfix, all boot up much quicker as well. Most games and apps, its only like a couple seconds to make it back to the home screen. I have noticed a coulpe apps take an extra few seconds. I am 100% happy with the speeds. Plus, don't forget, Nintendo mentioned another update in the summer. I'm happy with the speeds even if they don't improve.

I'm hoping that they pre-install all these updates by the time I get a Wii U...

I downloaded and installed Wii U Panorama View while playing Rayman Legends and while it worked, I could definitely notice when it started installing. Parts of the level would fail to load completely for a second, making me miss a jump entirely. I didn't notice any frame rate issues or anything though. One thing that bugs me is that the Wii U will recognize my VC titles on the Wii mode so that I can upgrade them but that there's no way I can use my current Wii U controllers to play them. I don't care much for the Miiverse/GamePad features. It would just be nice to play them with the Wii U controller pro and not have to worry about using up batteries in the Wiimote.

@Mop it upI'm pretty sure they do pre-install the updates once they're readily available. Not sure when you're planning on buying, but I wouldn't worry. It's not a huge update compared to the original update (I think it's around 700 MB)...this one took me maybe 15 minutes to download, then another minute or two to actually install.

I accessed my data and the system said that there were unnecessary data taking up hard drive space and wanted to delete it. I passed for now worried that it might delete something important. Have you guys come across this yet?

@SmerdI checked mine earlier to delete the Rayman demo and didn't have that pop up.

I heard it bricked Craig-a-roo's Wii U, so I just want to make sure it's safe before I go ahead and update.

I haven't heard of any issues about it bricking Wii Us.

Mine's fine. I updated Saturday morning and played for many hours on Sunday with no freezes. It took longer than ludist's Wii U to update though. Closer to 30 minutes to download and install. I was showing the console to some friends Sunday and was glad that the loading times were shorter. Until I loaded Lego, that is.

I think my system is working out kinks of the update. Sometimes it stutters when not supposed to. Sometimes, when I turn the system on, and try to launch a game the moment I can interact with the touchpad, it freezes the start up by fifteen seconds or so. But it only did that once. It seems my system is ironing out some inefficiencies to make it run as desire. Lego did freeze on me lastnight, but that's mostly because that game is real buggy.

@Scrawnton Just within the last day or two whenever I go to start a game from the gamepad a little white pop up screen with some "loading" message pops up for a second or two, disappears, and then nothing happens and I'm stuck looking at the screen you would choose a game on but I can't move or do anything and this lasts for seriously a good 30 seconds or so before the game finally launches. Blah.

Since the update, I've noticed that my Wablet is having a much harder time staying connected to the console. There is nothing different with my room arrangement/set up. Even 4 feet away, it would have trouble staying connected. It was terrible on Monday, but seemed much better last night. I guess time will tell if something serious is happening.
