It's scored a 9 on NWR, and is reviewing pretty well at other sites too. The game is very fun and very well made, I highly recommend!

Looks great! Future apocalyptic robot western!

Official quote from the game's website:

"Not another 3D effect showcase nor a cheap port; we’re making an Actual Game™! :)"

DrFink addition: Announced, I believe, through social media today (6/5/2014) is the fact that Steamworld Dig is coming to Wii U!!

"There will be some new features and tweaks but essentially it'll be the same SteamWorld Dig we all know and love :) /Julius" ... "I can't tell what exactly will be new but I promise it will be unique in some aspects."

You need to play better games then
Such as? This game is everything a good video game should be IMO, I enjoyed it a lot more that Bioshock Infinite for example.

@GameDadGrant
How far have you digged?

Also, having played a lot of Spelunky on Vita I think this is the better game, blasphemy?

Will probably buy this today. Are the L and R buttons used much, as mine do not work full stop.

@deathly_hallows
Spelunky is fun, but many things hold it back from being a fantastic must own title.

I like Spelunky a lot, I just think the platforming "physics" are a bit weird and I'm sort of morally opposed to time limits in games so the ghost bothers me. It's still great though, and it perfect for a handheld since you can play in short burst and it has unlimited replay value.

But unfortunately Steamworld Dig does use the shoulder buttons and you can't play the game without them.

Once you learn how the ghost moves he becomes really easy to deal with.

And dammit.

Sorry man I feel your pain, I have a DSi with non-functioning triggers so It's only useful for touch screen games like Link N' Launch, although having a dedicated Link N' Launch system isn't so bad.

EDIT: PM me if yer interested in a cheap used 3DS XL, blue and black, I'm selling...

Nah i'm holding out to see what the 2DS is like. I'm getting one for my Grandmother so i'll be able to see how it feels then.

But but but what about the 3 dizzles? Steamworld Dig has stunning parallax scrolling!

(Although I want a 2DS as well, just cos it's weird and I like the weird!)

3D does funny things to my short sightedness.

Ah I understand, then yeah the 2DS should be perfect! (I mean if you like the weird from factor, which I sorta do)

Not bad. Might bite. Would have loved $4.99.

This game is worth so much more than that, I would have been happy to pay $15, that's how much I paid for Spelunky and I think Dig is more fun.

Downloaded the game last night. As soon as I finish Rayman (GBC), I'm all over it.

@Guillaume
Let us know what you think!

I wonder if you'll like it, it's not really a precision/skill-based platformer, there is relatively very little of that stuff.
