"Mr Iwata will reveal new games for #WiiU in a new #NintendoDirect on 23/01"
"This time, the plan is a bit different from a regular Direct, in that I'll be talking about what kind of Wii U titles and services Nintendo is developing." - Satoru Iwata

Buying a $350 console to play games your current console can already play perfectly and with less hassle seems irrational to me.
I agree! But they're out there. I'm talking about the same people whose logic consists of "well I love the virtual console but I just can't be bothered to plug my Wii in."
You're right though, the announcement won't move significant units. Still, it's just one more reason to buy a Wii U for those on the fence.
By the way, here's some source code from Nintendo's website:
I am staying up all night. Contemplating what to post in other threads, then post nothing. My teeth are really crooked because I nervously chew on gems.
Y'know, I don't wanna get my hopes TOO high up, but I think that Nintendo recognizes that they've gotta do something to keep the momentum rolling with WiiU. Pikmin won't be coming for months yet, and that's not enough to do it for most people. I could almost expect something like Mario Kart (or to a lesser extent, Animal Crossing), because that's something that's been a proven system seller as well as a "bridge" title in the vein of New Super Mario Bros. I'm in no way expecting anything like Zelda or Mario, but I feel like the time is right for Nintendo to announce something that'll help sustain WiiU's momentum.
Wow. This Nintendo Direct really blew me away. I can't wait for E3 this year now that it's confirmed to show us more of Smash, have playable Mario Kart and the next real Mario game, likely Monolith's new game, and maybe even this crossover between Mega Ten and Fire Emblem. Not to mention the HD Wind Waker a lot of us have been clamoring for too. Absolutely incredible.
I'm pleasantly surprised, but disappointed that once it got to the game part my stream got extremely choppy. Was that Xenoblade 2? The 1 frame per 5 seconds I got on that looked amazing. I've also never played Wind Waker so I'm psyched for that.
