Disney Announces New Gaming Universe Disney Infinity

Superhero Hype said:
"'Disney Infinity' introduces a new way to interact with the best of Disney on one game platform, both now and in the future," said John Pleasants, co-president, Disney Interactive. "With this innovative approach to gaming, Disney Infinity will bring to life new characters, stories and environments from The Walt Disney Company over time in a way that will delight fans and gamers alike."

Disney Infinity integrates collectible character figures that come to life in the game. These figures provide experiences that are true to these characters and stories, as well as the opportunity to bring characters from various Disney and Pixar films to play together in a virtual "Toy Box." This all-new game universe will launch in June across all consoles and will have a phased roll out across mobile and online devices throughout 2013.

My brothers should enjoy this, the play the hell out of Skylanders.

And why is everyone saying Skylanders is a Spyro game!!! It is a game with Spyro in it. It's like calling Super Smash Bros. a Kirby game.

I'm in await and see mode with this one. The concept is interesting, but it will be important that if we're going to have to pay extra for figures that they are easy enough to find without paying inflated ebay prices like some of the Skylanders characters were going for. If I have to pay ebay premiums to unlock stuff, it's definitely not worth it.

There's lots of media out on the game right now, so here's some impressions from Nintendo World Report at E3.

For people interested in the game, what platform are you getting it on? Part of me is thinking Wii U because I think you guys are the only friends I'd want to play with online. I'd love to get the PC version, but I have a feeling that this is a game Amanda might want to play while I'm using my computer. What say you guys?

Any info on the differences between the Wii version and the Wii U version (other than graphics and gamepad integration)?

In other words: Has the Wii version been gimped?
