Nintendo Power is finished, but the soul still burns. A group of Nintendo-writers have joined forces to create the new magazine Nintendo Force!

More details to follow. I'm not sure who's spearheading the project (though Lucas Thomas signed the letter), but it's written by fans, for fans. Heck, our own TriforceBun is in on the project!

Learn more at their official website and see who's writing for them.

like 99 cents of it is for charity. the rest of the cost is due to using a vanity press.

Ah, Craig. Long time no see! Good to know you're still among the living! How are you friend.

What's a vanity press?

hey grant :)

i am well! and i can say that truthfully for the first time in a while. last year was kind of a disaster for me. how are you?

a vanity press is more gently referred to as "print on demand" nowadays. the idea is that no one else will publish your stuff, so you vainly pay someone else to. modern print on demand technology means the author doesnt really have to pay upfront for it anymore, but the tremendous cost of the process is passed onto the reader.

@TVandLust

How weird. I can't believe there isn't somebody out there who'd WANT to publish them, you know?

And nothing against our awesome T-Bun either. Unless he's like "I refuse to be a part of this unless it costs 17 bucks a pop," haha. That doesn't sound like him though..

@GameDadGrant

I would GLADLY do five bucks an issue if it meant I got the print version. Five bucks just for digital? Content on the internet is already basically a digital magazine.... and the only cost it the internet access I already pay for. I would want to actually get something to put on my shelf if I'm gonna pay real dollahz. But $17 an issue? geeeeez. That's like a whole year of NP! (as 'Stache just pointed out)

Why even offer a printed version? Awful business decision.

I wonder if they need more art. Maybe I'll have to get in touch with T-Bun about it.

Just received my printed copy today...

It's really quite nice, though I don't know about paying $25/issue. I would have opted for the digital version, but I didn't like that registration was forced, and that only (rotten)Apple devices were supported. So, print I went.

I really like how the magazine pulls from Nintendo Power's storied past, yet keeps so much fresh. I was excited to see the reader poll for game of the year, but saddened and perturbed to see the poll open to F-bookers only. Bleh.

All in all, I'm impressed and like the concept and force behind the endeavor. I look forward to seeing how the magazine grows in time, and hope that it is given the chance to grow through subscriber-ship.

It's a shame - If it was $25-$40 for 12 issues I would buy...

Did anyone subscribe to this magazine? I did when the option to subscribe was offered (given the significant per issue savings), but have not received my my first issue yet (though technically the second issue). Given that the issue I am expecting is the March/April edition, and April is nearly half over, I'm just wondering if something happened to my copy, if there's an issue with printing, or...? There's no "contact us" page on the official NF site, so I thought I'd check to see if anyone here knows anything or has started receiving their subscription.

Well looks like I found a new magazine for Nintendo, Do they have a subscription so I can just get them in the mail instead of having to order every issue?

@gtarrant

On Facebook NF is reporting that a number of subscribers are now receiving their copies. Sounds like you should see yours soon!

@gtarrant

Glad I'm not the only one, then. But sorry you're in the same proverbial boat.

@Abdooooo

Thanks for the heads up! Hopefully mine and my gifted subscriber's will arrive in the next few days.
