    So this is yet another unique version? Hahahahaahaha, that's crazy. I'm kind of surprised Nintendo is letting them release this many versions of the same game, it's bound to cause some consumer confusion. Since I have the Wiiware version of the sprite-y game I guess there's no reason for me to get this, I'll wait a few months when they release the retail version of the polygonal 2.5D 3-D remake remake on the eShop and call it Cave Story Deluxe 3-D 3-D 3-D or something.

    The only version of Cave Story I own was the one I got in the indie bundle on PC, and I still haven't played it

    @anon_mastermind its not just a 3d version of the dsiware game, its the steam version version of the game (minus hd visuals). It has all the extra content (so it has MORE to it than the wiiware and dsiware game). The only thing that stinks is that it doesnt have the redrawn art that was included in the wiiware version, this is the original graphics put in to wide screen.

    The lack of wiiware art is the bummer for me, but I am still all for this game. I cannot wait to get home to buy it.

    Well you can't buy the DSiware version of the game on the eShop, only on a DSi. That eliminates some confusion.

    @Scrawnton

    Nice, I was wondering if they were going to throw in all that extra content. Good.

    @Guillaume

    True. Though for those out there that bought the DSiWare version and then transferred it over to their 3DS may be confused. Or just uninterested in this uh, "new" eShop release.

    @GameDadGrant according to the nintendolife review i read on my phone, that is the case. they call this one the essential version.

    i still own the dsiware version on my 3ds and i hope they dont force me to delete it. BUT it will be cool to have both the dsiware version and eshop version on the home-screen. Rare system?! HA.

    I am glad for this new version with added content though, I love me some cave story.

    True, but I find it funny that right after Nintendo announces that they are going to start selling full retail games on the eShop they release Cave Story (3-D download) that's not the same as Cave Story 3-D which is a retail release which a lot of might assume will eventually be available on the eShop since Nintendo just said the plan is to make retail games available for download, I mean it's a 3-D remake of a remake for 3DS, but it's not that other 3-D remake of a remake for 3DS with practically the same title.

    @deathly_hallows the one for eShop is simply called "Cave Story" though

    I know, but when I saw Cave Story (3-D download) I immediately assumed it was the 3-D remake that I've seen on store shelves, why would it not be? What kind of crazy people would make yet another version of a game already has 2 versions available on 3DS?* (well until they took the other "Cave Story" off the store)

    *Nicalis, that's who.

    @Guillaume
    Sorry.

    @GameDadGrant
    That's me, trying to be funny....

    @deathly_hallows the (3-D DIGITAL Download) is just the nintendo stores press releases way of saying "hey this is a downloaded 3d game only available on the eshop." The game is not called "Cave Story (3-D Digital Download)"

    Samurai G (3D Digital Download - UFO Interactive Games, $1.99)
    Cave Story (3D Digital Download - Nicalis, $9.99)
