Kickstarter: Pure Nintendo Magazine UPDATE: Received my first issue

I saw this on NinTemple.com. The new magazine is called Pure Nintendo Magazine. It will be bi-monthly so for the mathematically challenged that's six issues per year. Twenty bucks gets you a subscription and there are perks for those who want to donate more. Here's the link. I for one will be backing this. The internet is best for fast info of course, but there's just something about a real magazine that sets it apart.

Also, if you haven't checked out NinTemple's forums I hope you'll consider it. It's much quieter but has a nice core group of people including people like Negative World Podcast co-host NinSage (Joe). There's a link on Neg World's front page.

UPDATE: Pure Nintendo Magazine has added additional support levels with additional rewards.

For those that have never supported a Kickstarter project this was my first time and it was very easy. It just took a couple of minutes. Also the fact that I checked out via Amazon made me feel very comfortable that my money was safe.

UPDATE from the PNM Kickstarter page: Pure Nintendo Magazine said:
Some of the chatter on forum posts have questioned what PNM can offer that is different from other online gaming sites. We want to reassure you that we do have official support from Nintendo to run PNM. We have full rights to use the name, and we are working closely with Nintendo's legal and PR teams to guarantee that PNM will feature plenty of exclusive content not available anywhere else.

Many fans have also mentioned that one of the things they disliked about NP was that they didn't focus enough on third party content. Because PNM is "by fans, for fans", third party titles and game studios will be featured just as prominently. We already have contacts inside several studios developing titles for Wii U and 3DS, and are working hard to gain more.

Thanks for all you do, and please continue to spread the word!

I did not sign up, but yeah, they were a ways back with not much time left. What happens to everyone's cash then?

The check out is done though Amazon. I believe it's kinda like a game pre-order - they don't charge you unless and until it funds (the same way they don't charge for a pre-order until the game ships). If it doesn't make it then you don't get charged.

I just pledged some bucks. I really hope they make it. I love me some magazines.

Great!

As an update there is now a $40 option so you can treat a friend to a sub. Also the first ten people can get that option for $30 instead of $40.

They now need just a bit more than $8k to reach the goal but there's just 5 days left so for those considering I hope you don't wait too long.

I bumped up my pledge to 30, what the heck. The good news is that Kickstarters tend to pick up steam in the last few days, so they've still got a shot.

You know, the correct way to go about doing something like this is to sell shares to see if you can "kickstart" the company. That way, it can be regulated, and people will not be screwed if they just run off and say 'well, that's not gonna work. BYE!'.

EDIT- For the record, I will not just hand my money over to a stranger blindly, unless I'm just going to buy them a loaf of bread.

@TriforceBun That's good to know!

@Deerock69Kickstarter won't charge someone unless a project meets their funding goal. While Kickstarter doesn't guarantee that the project creator will follow through (they don't refund the money), the project creator is legally obligated to do what they say (according to the site).

@Robknoxious1

Hmm.. Exclusive stuff IS cool...but they've still got $8600 to go in 4 days (3 days?). What happens if they dont' get there? Does everyone get money back? Do they only make it on a much smaller scale? Kickstarter is still very foreign to me.

I'm sorry if its already been told in here what happens. I don't care THAT MUCH that I'd dig through it, sorry.

But thanks.

You don't get charged unless the project reaches its goal. For sure. When I "checked out" it was done through Amazon. I assume that's standard.

@Robknoxious1

Cool, thanks. I'll revisit this again around Tuesday and decide then.

@Mr_Mustache

Cool.

There's just under 48 hours left and they need around $6400. Now my gut would tell me it's not gonna happen but according to Kickstarter 98% of projects that reach 60% percent of the total go on to get completely funded. How bad would it suck to be in that 2%?

Well TriforceBun did say that things start getting serious towards the end.

Good for them! I hope they kick some ass with this project. Can't wait for the first issue.

I forgot about this. Am I frozen out now? I don't know how it works.

I think there's still some time left on the clock. As far as I know, you can donate until time expires. It said 4 hours to go a few minutes ago.

Man. Does someone want to upgrade to the $40 / 2 people option and split with me? I'll send you $20 somehow ASAP.

I don't use a CC though, and I don't have my own PayPal thing either. Suggestions?

Dude, Mrs_Mustache is clutch!

I'm interested in this mag but I'm not willing to jump in just yet. I'll patiently wait for some of your reactions.
