old but still slightly frustrating as a fan that they missed the opportunity to showcase their new robust online system with what could have been an awesome online launch game. mind you I personally LOVE couch co-op and will take that over online any day. Yeah but couch co-op requires IRL friends who play video games and I don't have those, and I'm not the only one. If they included both local and online multiplayer I'd definitely concede that local is way more fun, but online would also be fun. @GuillaumeI believe you about the number of single player games, I'm just saying from what I've seen those are little mini-games that are neat but they don't seem to be the focus of the game. Asynchronous multiplayer is the focus, of the game and maybe even the entire concept of the console itself.

Yeah, I knew it wasn't going to be. But, y'know, taking asymmetrical multiplayer games online kind of undermines their unique appeal. Because online games can ALWAYS be asymmetrical. @JargonTo me, Miiverse is something of a substitute for online play. Not that it can't coexist.

I dunno, someone could be using the tablet, the other players wii-motes, and it could still be online. I get what you're saying, the whole idea of "hey you can't see what's on my screen" has always worked online without special hardware, but it still works and I still think it would be fun. I mean don't you think it would be fun to get together with NW folks online and play that Zelda game, with voice chat and everything? Maybe not as fun as being in the same room together, but a whole heck of a lot more practical and cheaper (when you consider the cost of airfare and apartment rentals etc. ).

@deathly_hallowsOh, I'm not AGAINST it, as an option. But I do think it might get people thinking along those lines. Like, "Why is this system even necessary?"

@AnandWell it looks super duper fun when you have like 4 or 5 people playing together in the same room, so the tablet enables that interaction. I mean local is always more fun, imagine if you could get 8 people with 8 DSes all playing MarioKart DS at the same time (like they did at E3 a million years ago), that would be hilarious. But yeah, I agree...
