Agggh enough with the DSiWare games. What is this Heyawake game by Nicoli? Is this a Sudoku kind of puzzle game or something?

Damn you, Warerare! So this is the superior, more content-rich Super Nintendo version of Prince of Persia, I guess?

Whhhhhheeeeere, isssssss, Yoshiiiiii's, Iiiiiisland???? Is it really due to Super FX chip licensing arrangements? There's no way that it's a technical limitation. I wish someone would just like, ask someone at Nintendo in an interview so we can get an anser. It'll probably be something like "We offer hundreds of fantastic games on the Virtual Console service, and while we haven't mined all of Nintendo's past yet, there are many experiences on there that people haven't had yet."

@PogueSquadronWell, a Super FX game has never graced the Virtual Console, so it could be an issue with emulating it (even though PC emulators play it just fine). That'd be my best guess.

@ludist210 I'd have to imagine that any speculation on that is complete hooey. These Super FX games have been emulated on much weaker PCs for years. We also have Mega Man X2 emulated on VC, which also has an enhancement chip on it (though it's not the Super FX chip). There's no way it can be a technical limitation. I have to imagine that it's some sort of licensing agreement. At least, I would hope so, otherwise Nintendo has absolutely no excuse to withhold those games. I used to think they didn't emulate Yoshi's Island because they wanted to sell the GBA version, but that was so long ago.

@PogueSquadronI think it is a technical thing. We never got Stunt Race FX, either! It seems like Nintendo doesn't like to emulate stuff unless the emulation is perfect.

@Anand Maybe I'm crazy but I feel like the emulation of Super FX games was solved back on the PC back in like, 1998 or something. I feel like it either has to be a licensing issue (maybe they legally cannot republish Super FX games for some reason?) or they just plain never put in the time to get it working. I'm pretty sure I've played Yoshi's Island on an emulator with zero problems before.

@PogueSquadronI'm doubting it's a licensing issue since they own most of the IPs that people are clamoring for, although the company that developed the chip (Argonaut Games) is no longer in business. That could be the issue, similar to how Battletoads is in limbo (Rare doesn't own the rights to the IP, and TradeWest doesn't really exist anymore, so...yeah). But I'm sure Nintendo could work it out.

I think emulating the Super FX chip is just a matter of extra work that Nintendo don't yet want to do, and so they first put up other games that didn't need extra work. I think we'll see Super FX games eventually.

@Mop it upIt's been nearly 6 years now though.... And I really wanted Starfox. Yoshi's Island I have on both GBA and as an Ambassador title, so meh. But hey PRINCE OF FUCKING PERSIA. I've been waiting for you Americans to get that for ages now. I know what my submission for the next Retro Game Club(s) is/are going to be.

@Shadowlink And there have been a lot of SNES releases in that time! But for about a year now, I think they've been saving most VC releases for the Wii U. So I think we'll see them on that sometime.

I hope they up res our N64 games, or give us the option to. That'd be amazeballs.

I loved Stunt Race FX as a kid, but it is pretty hard to go back to The framerate is pretty appalling. As for Prince of Persia, I own it on the Super NES, but I never got into it. The movement was too stilted for my taste, although it's been a few years since I last tried it.

I've never played Stunt Race FX. But didn't the original Star Fox have a shitty framerate, too? Argonaut should remake it. In wireframe 3D! Nah. Maybe just simple shading at 60fps, though. I was kind of surprised that Q-Games didn't throw Sf1 or Sf2 on the Sf 64 3D card. @X-pert74It's not a platformer like Mario is a platformer. It's more rigid and stiff and linear. Like the first Tomb Raider, you aren't really MEANT to have smooth control. I think that approach works better in 2D than in 3D, though.

@AnandControls may be a little less fluid than Mario (because of the emphasis on more realistic physics & animation), but linear? Not a chance.
