Netflix coming to Wii

According to the New York Times.

It's about time. And even though a disc is required, I'm sure the hackers will do something to fix that.

Thing is, will Nintendo add DVD movie support now? It seems silly that this would support Netflix streaming, but their DVD service would be completely ignored.

Why not sign up for a (free) account?

Hmm... may actually have to give this a whirl. That's fairly interesting to hear.

I haven't gotten my disc yet, but I'm interested to try it. I do regularly use both my 360 and PS3 for streaming Netflix, so I doubt I'll use this much, but it's awesome that it's there.

Used it last night and it's great. The movies were smooth and the picture qualitiy was good for 480p. Looks exactly like how DVD's looked on my TV before I got an upconverting DVD player. This is obviously going to vary depending on how good a HD TV is at doing 480p.

I watched a movie the other night with this, and it really is up to par with the other two consoles. I've never been one to doubt the Wii's performance or anything, but I have to admit, I was a bit surprised to see this working so well. The movies look just like DVD's. The interface is great, and using the Wiimote as a remote is just so much better than using the 360 or PS3 controllers (if you don't have remotes for those consoles).

Once the homebrew folks get a forwarder channel for this, I'll be all set.

I use this on Windows Media Center and honestly, I think it works better on the Wii for most content. If I want to watch something in HD, I'll use the PC, but most of the time, I'll probably use the Wii. The interface is faster and easier to navigate. It takes just a second or two longer to buffer, but it's hardly noticeable.

Just got my disk yesterday. Works great! I don't have the fastest internet, but this only takes a minute or so to get a movie going, and NO stuttering.

Like GameDadGrant, Nintendo Week is horrible to watch. I can play Mario Kart, The Conduit, and any other online Wii game and have no problem. But Nintendo Week just sucks.

I'm a Wii only gamer (console that is) so this is a nice compliment to our DirecTv. Problem with that, is their On Demand is HiDef, so with our mediocre connection, their On Demand is more like, wait a half hour, then watch your show.

Kudos to Netfilx on Wii.

I just got the email that my disc is in the mail. Very psyched.

I also noticed that I can register my disc for Club Nintendo coins. Nice touch!

Someone just informed me there is no porn on Netflix?

Missed opportunity?

I ordered the CD for Wii. Can't wait because I like to watch Spartacus on my big screen.

Tried it. I like the picture quality a lot but so far I can't find any browsing titles feature. I'm not sure but I think you need to select your titles from a computer and place them in your queu before you could choose them from your Wii. Hopefully that's not the case because that defeats convenience.

@pgtl_10

Hit up or down on the d-pad. It scrolls through the different genre types.

@Zero
Since you run a website, I assume you're aware of the internet's existence. Just use that

Update: I love it but now it needs two things:

1. A search option

2. More instant watch titles particulary tv shows.

I agree about the search option, as of no. 2 they have a lot more on their website so just use your pc and add them to your instant queue.
