Thanks, David! You're a machine. An editing machine. Which would be a PC, I guess.

There were actually two versions of Turtles Tournament Fighters. The Genesis and SNES versions are completely different.

Seriously, check it out!

Edit - While looking at info, I found out there was a completely different NES one as well! What the heck?!

@ploot

Yeah, I knew that Tournament Fighters was rare, so I scooped up the SNES version. Found out that the NES one is the superrare one, grumble grumble. So now I've got a fighting game, that isn't rare, that I don't like, and doesn't play well. BLARGH.

@Mr_Mustache
The Genesis one has April and Casey Jones, but it plays worse. Haha.
Don't know about the super-rare NES one. Buckets!

Tournament Fighters plays fine! Not our fault you suck at it!

@Zero

I'd do much better at Street Fighter II. And Mortal Kombat. And that game where you're gay for Bridget.

I think Ninsage is confusing Super Spike with Dodge Ball.

Super Spike V'Ball doesn't have the Kunio Kun characters, but it is AMAZINGLY FUN.

Dodgeball and Street Fighter 2 are two games we could have played.

@ploot

And did Technos make Double Dragon? Isn't that Tradewest? Or Data East? I get everything mixed up.

And I think Anand's "smash the hurdle" game might be "Crash and the Boys Street Challenge" for those interested.

--Nice read, Fink! Everyone is totally jazzed for Backlaugust now, woo.
(still listening..)

GAH, why wasn't I on this podcast? Tecmo Super Bowl II: Special Edition was an extremely limited release on SNES, so much so that my jaw may've dropped / eyebrow may've raised when I laid eyes upon it for the first time in the wild earlier this year. I snatched it up instantly without question, never knowing when I'd see it again. Anyway, TSB III DESTROYS it. I actually prefer TSB (SNES) and TSB for NES as well. TSB II has a lot of the III things, but it just doesn't measure up. I keep hoping/waiting for stuff (I've been playing a season while waiting for Backlaugust, and after I finished Fortune Street for the time being on Standard play), and it just never materializes. Sometimes it IS hard to go back..

I was going easy on Zero in it while he was playing with Dallas (Dallas is nasty). Had I broke out the goods, and ran like I did when we were kids it would've been different. I've adjusted my playstyle over the years to make things more challenging for myself. I don't run zigzag anymore, but more "realistic" to the point where I average like 3-6 yards a carry instead of 12-80. I dunno, I guess its my fault that I lost. I didn't want to house him though and then go "well that stinks." I haven't lost a TSB game in a long time. Its cool. We can play again another time, haha.

NASCAR Thunder: Anand has an attention span problem and can't handle playing something for a half hour straight, so we set the race length at 3% (25% is what I always play on, and you get a TRUE quarter of a race, requiring a pit stop and your car behaves as such without accelerated damage or fuel consumption.). If you run this race as intended, you will finish the entire race in like 5-8 minutes (the DAYTONA 500 race was only 3 freakin' laps, and SHOULD'VE been done in 2 minutes, 40 seconds.). Because the race is at 3%, everything adjusts to it. If you bumnp into someone one time, its the equivalent of bumping into them MANY times. Does that make sense? (Again, that is not a problem that arises in 25% races.)

I wish I played w/ Lou, too, like the old days. We could've maybe showed it how it was done.. Hmm. And as for "spending $200 to unlock everything," this was before videogame folks were ridiculous with DLC; you actually earn your freakin' tracks, paint schemes, special challenges, etc. IMAGINE THAT.

@Mr_Mustache
Technos did develop Double Dragon, and they ported it to the NES as well.

Yeah, pretty sure it's Crash 'n the Boys he was talking about. Not the greatest game, but it's all right.
Also, it's the name of a band in SCOTT PILGRIM. WOO! Also, in the movie, they are from BRAMPTON. WOO!!!

Edit - Just finished the episode. Solid stuff.

LOL at Mustache pretending he went easy on me in Tecmo Bowl instead of accepting that I schooled his ass.

I have hosted a Tecmo Super Bowl Tournament every year on Super Sunday since 2002. Anyone here gonna be in Rochester in February? Just sayin'.

@ploot

To be fair, I merely ASKED if those series were connected... didn't I?

EDIT: Very good podcast guys. I felt it was abit a shame that the Montreal Meet-up discussion was basically a "what you've been playing 2". Oh well.

@Mr_Mustache

I'm glad I could please you good sir! In the end, I felt it needed a little music underneath to complement the verbage and that Fire Emblem song was great I think. I did my best to read it strongly.

@Zero

I'm not pretending! I totally nerfed myself for you! Heck, I even brought a Nerf football!

The next time I SEE you, we're playing (any TSB game you'd like, you pick), and you're getting my most ruthless.

@NinSage

Intriguing. Why was I not aware of this? You should link up with Lou's party, though that would be a lot of people in one house? Hmm.. Something to think about? We have a Madden Tourney there. TSB would be OODLES more fun. (I'm not saying "No More Madden!" so don't think that)

@Davoid

Haha, wrong thread, buddy!

@DrFinkelstein

It was funny hearing it out loud for the first time. I wonder what anyone else thought.. There are some Easter Eggs in there, too. Well, not Easter Eggs exactly, but.. I'm someone can fish 'em out.

@Mr_Mustache

Yea, I don't think the Madden Tourney and the TSB Tourney could occupy the same space. It might be like when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object =P
