Cool. I don't think I'll be picking up SML or SML2, they just don't hold up very well IMO.

It's cool they're finally having sales, but $1 off already arguably overpriced games doesn't seem like that big of a deal compared to stuff like the Steam sale. They should have just done "all Mario games in the eShop $.99 all month long", that would have drawn some major attention to the eShop.

Nintendo is not going to try to compete with Steam 99 cent sales, they are going to try to compete with PSN/XBLA sales. Which they're still kind of a ways off from, but not super far.

@deathly_hallowsI hear you (and would have loved that too), but it's a step...a step Nintendo's never taken before. So it's progress. @anon_mastermindThe original maybe, but I think 2 is still pretty good.

I'll pick up Super Mario Land 2, I've never played it and the first one is great. Weird as shit but great.

Nintendo, thanks for the rebates on games I already own twice... each. The only game I don't have is Mario's Picross.

@Zero, agreed. Still, both are pretty short. Both games were longer when we were kids because it was so hard to see what was going on on the original Gameboy's screen. Still, fun games.

The second one is weirder and better than the first Super Mario Land. Will (re)buy, childhood here I come!

Too bad I already own all these games on the 3DS. And total agreement that SML 2 is WAY better than SML.

Hmm, I might buy SML2 right now instead of waiting on the sale... I need to buy Kid Icarus anyway, it's time to eShop!

I like how the second one feels like it takes place in "Mario Land", complete with a world themed around a giant Mario statue thing.

Buy Mario's Picross, it's the best out of all the GB Mario games. I love it!

@ZeroUnless you count Donkey Kong, which is basically a Mario game despite its title

Super Mario Land 2 is leaps and bounds ahead of SML. It's definitely worth $3 (and so is Mario's Picross, and SMB is worth $4), although SML is a harder sell (even at $3).
I'm thrilled to see they're doing more sales and promotions. Game of the Weekend, 8-Bit Summer, Month of Mario -- plus plenty of packed release days and solid titles coming out. NOA is really doing well with the eShop lately.

The catch is Nintendo gets to offer NINTENDO games! That's worth an extra buck or two, even in the digital age.

@Deerock69 I think it depends on the game though. Super Mario Bros. 3? Heck yeah! Ice Climbers? Not so much. I think it's actually a bit strange that Nintendo sees every game on NES, SNES, etc. as being worth the same as every other. There should be more variable prices within a platform.
