    Kid Icarus Uprising and SSB are both awesome. Sakurai <3

    I'm enjoying Of Myths and Monsters a lot too! It's very similar to the NES original in terms of structure, but the difficulty is balanced a little better and it's slightly less obtuse (although that might just be my familiarity with the NES game). Currently just started the third world and stopped there for today.

    Petite Computer actually seems pretty cool, you can literally code your own games and trade them other users, I just might need to learn Basic!!!!

    Sweet.

    @Deerock69
    I think Kid Icarus Uprising was made for fans of Smash Bros., not fans of Kid Icarus, which was probably a smart move because there aren't very many Kid Icarus fans anymore but there are tons of Smash Bros. fans.

    Yeah, it has been LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time since I used basic, but the idea of coding my own games seems pretty cool. So, yeah, I got Kid Icarus and that Sweet Memories Black Jack. I thought it might be a decent blackjack simulator with good art to boot, but it only really has good art. The damn simulator doesn't even have the dealer have to hit until they at least get 16. I routinely had them stopping at 15 and 14. What is up with THAT?

    Kid Icarus for Game Boy! Awesome.

    Man, too many Game Boy games I need to check out, the VC library continues to grow and I can't keep up. I'll get to some of these eventually...

    Man, why do Kid Icarus games decide to drop when I'm not around to say anything about them?

    Of Myths and Monsters is a solid game, and quite a bit easier than the original. For me, I like the tension and scope of the original better, but I understand the argument in favor of the GB version. Worth picking up, for sure.

    @deathly_hallows

    I'm as big a fan of Kid Icarus and Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters as you'll find and I adored Uprising. It's bold, hilarious and it fills a niche Nintendo doesn't currently cover. And it's just a great game you can come back to again and again.

    It's not the vertical platformer I wanted, but it was unquestionably a good use of the IP, in my opinion. Consider me one happy Kid Icarus fan.

    Can't beat the first boss of Myths and Monsters. Are there any upgrades I can pick up if I replay the first world?

    @Secret_Tunnel

    Other than arrow upgrades, I'm not sure if there's anything worth using. Then again there's really no explanation as to what the items actually do... I picked up a crayon and a torch and I don't know what they did

    A good strategy for the boss is to just stay on the bottom area and take it slow. If he appears higher up, ignore him. If it's on the platform area just above you, you can get in shots in between him firing at you. Same for the bottom platform. Takes a while but you should be able to conserve life easier that way and eventually wear him out.

    @VofEscaflowne
    That was my strategy, it worked except for the annoyingness of when he spawns on your location.

    I've taken it slow, only at the second dungeon so far.

    The Pencil and Torch both mark the map of the dungeon you're in. The Pencil fills in rooms you've been in, while the torch shows you where you are on the map currently. If you don't have the map, they don't do anything, and they only work for the dungeon you're in.

    Regarding the first boss, play it super defensively except when he spawns on the bottom floor--then mash the B button like a maniac to hit him with tons of arrows, maybe taking a hit or two yourself if you have to. He's probably the toughest boss in the game, honestly (outside of maybe the final one), so don't lose heart.

    @TriforceBun

    That would have been useful but oh well, I beat the game anyway
