Rumor no more. Castlevania Lords of Shadow: Mirror of Fate has been officially announced for the 3DS via Nintendo Power. The game will star Trevor Belmont and feel feature deep combat mechanics, light & shadow magic, and much more. You can view scans for the game below. If you haven't played it already, you may want to play Castlevania Lords of Shadow for the PS3 and Xbox 360 because this sounds like it's going to continue the story line established in that game.

Thanks to @anon_mastermind for the heads up!

The latest issue of Nintendo Power is out, and some subscribers have already started to receive this month's edition. So what's on the cover? None other than that rumored Castlevania game for 3DS the internet has been buzzing about.

The game is called Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate. Try saying that 10 times fast. The magazine reveals that Mirror of Fate's Belmont of choice will be Trevor Belmont. He will fight using his version of the Combat Cross, Gabriel's weapon from the original Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.

Other small details unveiled by the magazine (thanks to GoNintendo for the above scan) include the fact that light and shadow magic will be returning from the original Lords of Shadow. Using the L, R and face buttons, players will be able to attack with various weapons, grab enemies, block and dodge. Earning experience points will unlock the ability to execute combo moves, like launching enemies into the air, smashing them into the ground and so on.

For all your Belmont needs, keep it locked on IGN.

Eh, seems interesting... I am surprised that Mercury steam is doing it. I wonder what Iga could be up to.

Okay I can deal with this I guess. But I'll have to keep my DS Lite handy for the lovely sprite-goodness.

The fact it's a western game on DS that sounds promising, they're taking seriously, AND is influenced by 2D games is pretty mind blowing actually. 2.5D western game on 3DS? Pree crazy.

Wii U will undoubtedly get something just as surprising.

Hrm. Mixed feelings, mostly underwhelming. Waiting on E3 videos before closing the door, though.

Same. I hope they treat this game as a "portable" installment of the series instead of trying to make it into a "portable-console" game. I honestly think the latter is going to end up happening and I hope I'm proven wrong.

Simon and Trevor Belmont in the same game? 2D, 2.5D, 3D Gameplay inspired by Dawn of Sorrow? I think it's time to change my pants.

Awesome news, I'm excited for this. We're getting a new Castlevania, period.

No wonder they're taking so long on a new Castlevania game. They're probably building up the 3D assets that they'll recycle over the next 10 years. Hiyoooo.

No wonder he looks so different in-game. The in-game character is Trevor and the Nintendo Power cover shows Simon.

Saw those last night. Looks awesome, but sorta cartoony to me. Not a fan of the redesigns actually, they don't look like the characters at all. Well, the cover dude looks like Trevor, but it's not even Trevor... :/

What? Not 2-D? Not Iga? Fuck you Konami.

This game has the potential to be either really bad or kind of decent.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is one of my favorite games of this generation. So now I have TWO sequels to look forward to....one for consoles and another for the almighty 3DS?

I am a very happy man.

We don't need another hundred Metroidvanias.

It looks like the biggest budget game on the 3DS since RE:R. If the framerate holds up, this could be one pretty game.

But we do need hundreds of God of War clones?

Besides, I don't think we need hundreds, just 2 would make me happy, Castlevania and Metroid Dread.
