After a brief announcement, Guillaume welcomes veteran Anand and rookie David (a.k.a. Davoid) on the podcast's 31st episode. Amongst the games discussed: GNOMZ, Kid Icarus 3D Classics, Xenoblade, Etrian Odyssey, and more!
The gang then discusses what "Nintendo magic" is (and bashes Sega mercilessly along the way) and Nintendo's different shows and faces of PR. Someone sets the living room carpet on fire.
As usual, the theme music comes from Negative World's owner and dictator, Zero. The music throughout the podcast is taken from Kid Icarus: Uprising on 3DS.
Comment on the topics, the podcast, the guests, the host, etc. on Negative World! Or, be a weirdo and post them on Facebook or Twitter instead.
I was wondering what this pain in my back was, and now I know. Gui just stabbed me in the back, along with the rest of Negative World!
In all seriousness, congrats Gui. I'm sad that Greg is leaving RFN, but that's life. I hope you'll do right by him and introduce yourself with a hearty "Ahoy-hoy" when on RFN's podcast!
And this is actually good news for me. Now whenever RFN has some incorrect/faulty information on their podcast, I know someone (semi) personally that I can bitch at!
Aw. Sad news but congrats!! I totally always associated the podcast with Gui, not to short change anyone else's awesome work on them. I wanted to be on another one soon, and was looking forward to reuniting with Gui but......now it'll never happen :'(((((((((((
Davoid's on this one? I love Davoid!! And don't get me started on Anand. I have all kinds of hot feelings for that man.
I was only on 1 podcast, but I loved doing it with you. Yes, I loved doing it with you.
I don't look at this as a bad thing, really. Because I know Guillame isn't going and ignoring us. If anythig this could bring NWR and NW closer as a community. This could be a good thing for our community if Guillame and the rest of the RFN crew are okay with occasionally pimping NW!
You know, I joked that Guillaume was going to leave us for NWR, and it turns out I was right -- they were grooming him for it all along.
It's unfortunate that he's leaving the Negative World Podcast, but I'm okay with it, since RFN is my favorite podcast, and it means I'll get to hear Gui even more often than I did on the NW podcast, since it's more frequent and he won't be alternating hosting duties.
Congratulations Guillaume! Now I need to actually go and listen to this week's NW podcast.
EDIT: So you're going to officially be a member of the crew on RFN, right? The announcement on that show focused so much on you taking over the editing that it kind of glossed over that point. Awesome!
Sad! I did a podcast with Gui and kriswright that was a lot of fun. I think it started with something about me being a nudist and going from there...
Hey, as long as Gui isn't going anywhere, then all is right in the world. After all, he's the one who invited me here in the first place. Plus it gives more exposure to Negative World, so that's also a plus.
Also, I'm not worried about the Negative World podcast. DrFink is doing a great job with it. I'll give this one a listen later.
First off, congratulations Guillaume, on becoming an RFN podcast member. I admit that you've meshed really well with the others on their show, and you seem like a natural fit. It was also cool when I found out you had secretly edited one of the prior RFN episodes. You're doing an awesome job over there, no doubt!
Anyway, getting back to this episode, I enjoyed it, especially hearing David's enthusiasm for Nintendo.
Topic #1 regarding Nintendo magic was discussed very well, much better than I could have ever worded it myself. We all know it's there, but trying to pinpoint exactly why the magic is there is difficult to do.
Topic #2 regarding Nintendo's communication with the consumer: I'm in the same boat as David; from my perspective Nintendo seems to be doing better overall with reaching out to their fans through stuff like twitter, facebook, and the other venues you guys mentioned. I was not really aware the kinds of tactics used by Sony and Microsoft, so it's hard for me to compare the three. But I also know the cold harsh truth that the communication really is one-way for the most part, and many times Nintendo hides more than they care to admit.
Oh, and is it just me, or did you not have a specific topic yourself, @Guillaume? Maybe that's why this episode is a little shorter.
One last comment, there were several times when a speaker was interrupted before he had a chance to finish the point he was trying make, but otherwise this was a good episode.
Yeah, that was fun. I marginalized the contribution of my wife, talked up Jerry Rice and Nitus' Dog Football, and fought with Gui about SEGA. And then nobody listened to it.
Yep. We found out Gui likes letting people die in strategy games and that Jerry Rice and Nitus Dog Football is half-decent...and kicked it off with Toejam & Earl music.

Fun times at Negative World.
I listened to it something like three times so I did my part 8-)
Good episode, you guys should be on more often! Also I've said it before and I'll say it again - more British accents! Bring Rareware back - especially now that Greg is leaving RFN
Congratulations, Gui! I kind of suspected, due to your portentous comments. Following up Leahy is going to be a tough and very grueling gig, but I have faith that you can pull it off and successfully bring your ruthless editing skills to NWR.
Did you cut your whole topic?
I liked the beginning and end, though. Poignant!
@roykoopa64 As always, I thought that I did a poor job of exploring my topic in an organized, coherent way. Outside of the heat of the moment, I remembered about a thousand things that I should've mentioned. Ah, well...
I take 90% of the blame for cutting people off. Sometimes, on Skype, you can't even hear the other person talking. Other times, I just cut them off, anyway...
And Gui cut his whole topic!
@carlosrox I love you, too, Carlos! And I'm always sober, unless I'm hopped up on Sudafed!
I did cut my whole topic. I think it was a mess, and at this point it really wasn't relevant. Easier and faster to take the whole thing out than to try to fix it.
Also, that ending sounding bittersweet was totally unintentional! I like it, though.
