Wow, kinda surprised at how many people had no clue as to what Super Hang-On was. You guys are bigger Nintendo Fanboys than I gave you credit for! It was admittedly never released in an anthology (to the best of my knowledge anyway) but it was pretty popular in the arcades where I was from back in the day. And it the original game, Hang-On, was playable in the Dreamcast games Shenmue and Shenmue II. I'm pretty sure this game is available on PSN, too.

Back on page 1 a few people say Amoebattle is like a RTS game. Now, Ive heard of RTS games....though Im not real familiar with those type of games. Does the RTS stand for 'Real Time Strategy'? If I am correct, exactly what is a RTS game like? For example, Ive played rpgs like the Final Fantasy games, but when that one game came out, I think it was called FInal Fantasy Tactics, I never bought the game. For some reason these strategy games, even the Fire Emblem games scare me off, same for the Battalion Wars games on the GC. Whats weird about this is, Ive never played any type of strategy games so I have no idea how hard, or how much thinking would go into a strategy game. I just get the impression that they would be too hard for me to play. PLus I also get the impression that I would be sitting there having to think ahead on how my moves that I am making now will pan out. Maybe I'm selling myself short, but I just don't think I have what it takes to play strategy games. Just like I suck at Chess, mostly cause I've only ever played it a handful of times. Plus, I like games where I am always moving my character, or games that are sortof fast paced. I guess strategy games, at least in my mind, seem like very slow moving games that might bore me. Am I way off base in my thinking? Should I give some of these games a chance, like the Fire Emblem games? I have that game on my 3DS since I am an ambassador. Can anyone explain what these games are like? Thanks.

@gamewizard65Pikmin is an RTS. So is Battalion Wars. Games like Final Fantasy Tactics and Fire Emblem are turn-based strategy games (also known as TBS games). They play more like chess, where the player has plenty of time to decide their moves and actions. In real-time strategy (RTS) everything happens in real-time. You don't have time to make decisions, you do so "on the fly" so to speak.

@GameDadGrant True but those aren't exactly the most representative of the genre.

@ZeroYou are correct. But I think those are the games that @gamewizard65 would be most familiar with.

Hey, I did play Pikmin and I loved it! So, I guess I lied when I said I have never played a RTS game. Back in the day I ended up selling it, probably cause I needed the $$. But I plan on rebuying it, plus I never played Pikmin 2, so I plan on buying that when it comes out for the Wii next month. Of course if I just opt for the GC version, I probably could save a few bucks. Though, really, probably not enough to really make a difference. Only reason I hesitate on the Wii's new control style for these games is I have read where some people do not like the new style control for the Pikmin games....and I have also read where some people just love the new control style. To be 100% honest, its been so long since I played Pikmin. I bought it the right around when it launced, so we are talking like over 10 years ago, right? Anyways, its not like I really remember how that game controlled on the GC, so more than likely, I probably wouldn't have any issues with the way the Pikmin games control on the Wii. Edit: Oh yea, thanks for pointing out the differences GDG!

@gamewizard65 The first Pikmin game on the Wii also added a feature that lets you restart a day or rewind to a certain day, so that version is more forgiving, especially if you want to experiment. As for Pikmin 2, the Wii version is likely going to be $30 and the GameCube game routinely sells for more than that for a used copy. So in both cases, I'd say the Wii version is the way to go.

RTS are best played on the PC, for example Starcraft or Age of Empires. It's a strategy game, but real-time, so you have to be able to manage a lot of stuff at once (macro-manage, and micro-manage). The stylus is good for this because you can scroll and tap stuff accurately as you would with a mouse. RTS on consoles usually don't pan out because of the lack of fast and accurate controls. Pikmin and Little King's Story worked because they changed the formula quite a bit, but they're far from your typical RTS. Amoebattle looks fun. Nintendolife just reviewed it with a 7/10 but the score reads harsher than the text.

I think RTS games could work great with the Wii pointer, but I can't think of any that tried.

Bird Mania 3D review - seems like a no-brainer for 2 bucks. Super Hang-On review - they added motion controls to a VC game?

@Mop it upI'm afraid it'd just get physically tiring, after a while. Does anyone know if it worked with the New Play Style Pikmin?
