Trajectile is fun, and going for all the medals is very addictive. Q-Games has done it again!
Yup! It's a little trial-and-error-y but quite addictive. It's one of my top DSiWare games.

More games were added for some reason. All repeats though. F-Zero X, Balloon Fight, Kirby's Pinball Land, and Aura Aura Climber.

Ug, why repeat all the time? They have hundreds of games to choose from!

Should I get F-Zero X if I already have GX? Anything it offers better than the GCN game?

@TriforceBun I loved X, but... there is not really anything it does better than GX, which is definitely the superior game, so unless you want to try it out just to see the history of F-Zero... I dunno? It was the kind of the first step towards the greater GX.

It did have a random course generator mode, something GX doesn't have, which was a nice novelty, but... most of the randomly generated courses were sort of boring, and some were "broken" in the sense that the computer racers didn't know how to take certain curves without all just flying off the track... kind of hilarious...

ALTHOUGH... F-Zero X does have a really rockin' metal soundtrack. So that is something that GX doesn't have.

@TriforceBun

The only thing that I'd say X did that GX didn't was the 'Death Battle' mode. It was a challenge to take out all other racers rather than getting to the finish line first. It was kind of intense, and I remember having fun with it.

@TriforceBun
X is still a totally worthwhile game. Even though the graphics in GX are approximately 10 million times better, X is just as solid, fundamentally. X also has Death Battle, which is fun. Wait, I just found some old posts where I talked about the same exact things.

Racing in GX feels significantly different to me. Racing at the highest difficulty in X is TOUGH. Perhaps unfairly, but still...

The Multiplayer is probably better in X, too. Music, as well. And I love the X Cup, even though it's ridiculous. It cracks me up.

Plus, Death Race rules. Hey, did you guys ever set up your own F-Zero X-esque Death Race within the context of the game? You can just go into Practice Mode, set up a Full Grid, and then keep playing until you have 30 Stars (in other words, until everyone's dead). It works best on that simple track that I can't remember the name of, but you can do it on any track.

The X Cup is randomly generated, by the way. You have to beat Master Mode to unlock it, which is very hard, because, unlike the Sega-made GX, X has Nintendo's patented macro-rubber-banding, in which the computer players in the lead will ALWAYS lead the pack. In GX, you can just kill the points leaders and cruise to victory. Not in X!

But seriously. A Nintendo racer with randomly-generated tracks!

X has better music IIRC

@TriforceBun

I liked X far better than GX. I found the music, controls, and course design to be superior. And I didn't like GX very much, for whatever reason.

Looking at this from the perspective of someone who likes GX., I would say that X is still worth playing. It's more of the same in many ways. That said, there isn't much X has that GX doesn't. But that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's a very good racing game whether or not you take its sequel into account. If you enjoyed GX, I can confidently say that I believe you will enjoy its N64 predecessor. Having played every F-Zero game, X is easily my favorite.

The reason for the larger selection is because currently, physical rewards are temporarily unavailable. Nintendo are apparently upgrading their online systems:

@Anand That isn't true for the X Cup, you just need to beat the Joker Cup on Expert. It can't be something that difficult because I've played the X Cup.

In other news, I got Mario Golf 64, and I think by the time I'm bored of it I won't want to purchase World Tour and will have saved $30.

It's SO WEIRD that they haven't put N64 games on the Wii U yet. Is the emulation really so tricky, considering they already pulled it off on the Wii U? Having games like Mario Kart 64 on the Wii U would really give them new life, since you could easily play them in multiplayer with wireless controllers.

@Mop it up
Yeah? I don't remember the details, but I remember it being pretty freaking hard to unlock. Like, harder than beating GX. (But maybe not harder than Story Mode.)

@Anand Is it any weirder than the Wii U not having Genesis, Master System, TurboGrafix-16, and other systems? Nintendo's just weird when it comes to the Wii U VC, I don't know why they want to trickle stuff out. It isn't technical issues, so my guess is that the VC just isn't very profitable anymore and is a low priority.

Maybe, but I really do think that N64 multiplayer games would be perfectly suited for the system. And the Gamepad itself would be like a portable N64. Imagine rolling through Super Mario 64 on that baby.

Plus, a well-timed beloved N64 re-release would be perfect for plugging a hole in the lineup. I almost think it has to be something technical, even though that's hard to believe.

Bump for a new crop of games:

Super Metroid (Wii U) - 200 coins
3D Classics: Kirby's Adventure (3DS) - 200 coins
Brain Age Express: Arts & Letters - 200 coins
Mario Kart 64 - 250 coins

Not a particularly exciting week, but Kirby and MK64 are pretty timely. If you somehow missed the 30 cent sale on Smetch, 200 coins for it ain't too bad.

I'm thinking of getting Kirby even though I have the NES version on Wii U, which... kind of controls terribly. The 3D Classic version has improved controls and no slowdown, right? Might be worth it for that.

@Guillaume

I've never played a kirby game, other than Epic Yarn....wonder if I'd like it? Since its basically free, and I still have almost 1000 points, I might try it out.
