Nintendo of America is releasing Xenoblade Chronicles to North Americans exclusively at Gamestop and via Nintendo's online store.

Official website.

Nintendo of America said:
It’s man vs. machine in a new game coming to Nintendo’s Wii™ console in spring. Xenoblade Chronicles™ asks players to use the Monado blade to take on a seemingly endless series of invading Mechon robots in a sweeping role-playing adventure.

The main character is Shulk, a weapons researcher who must confront the Mechon by wielding the ancient Monado blade. It’s the only weapon that has any effect against the Mechon, and it also enables Shulk to see the future.

Players can customize their characters with a variety of weapons and armor choices, as well as headgear, boots and gloves. As in many role-playing games, players can then gain experience and upgrade their characters. Players can watch their enemies, learn their tactics and unleash real-time counterattacks.

The vast open world of Xenoblade Chronicles is ripe for exploration. Players can avert their focus from the main story and venture out looking for other challenges and side quests. Hidden areas and unique monsters are scattered throughout the game’s massive world, which players can explore freely.

Xenoblade Chronicles has already launched in Japan and Europe, and has received unanimously positive reviews, including several perfect scores.

Xenoblade Chronicles will be available exclusively through U.S. GameStop retail locations, http://www.gamestop.com and http://www.nintendo.com at a suggested retail price of $49.99 in the United States. Additional information about the game will be announced in the future. For more information, visit http://xenobladechronicles.nintendo.com.

@DrFinkelstein

Maybe it just SHIPS everywhere on the 6th? Sunday pickup in stores, Monday mail delivery?

@Mr_Mustache

The two gamestops I asked said friday. They seemed surprised but their systems say friday. So I'm guessing I can walk in-store for it then.

This is still coming out on Good Friday right? Not a Monday/Tuesday like normal releases? Anyone know why? Oh well, it means I can go pick it up right away instead of waiting till after work since I don't have to work Good Friday.

Waaa! Nintendo has had a few Friday releases lately. As I recall, Star Fox 64 3D and the flame red 3DS came out on a Friday, and so did Kid Icarus: Uprising, didn't it? Their normal releases are Sunday anyway, so it's not like avoiding the usual Monday/Tuesday release is strange for them.

WAA!

Just a reminder to everyone (and myself) to double check that us Gamestop folks are getting those art books.

The wife pre-ordered it from Nintendo.com last night, so it will be arriving on our doorstep in a week or so! I look forward to seeing what all the hubbub is about. Probably wasted days of my life already just in stupid argumentative discussions about this game... :P

I *almost* stopped a guy from trading in his Wii today at a GameStop, due entirely to Xenoblade.

But his son was too into the 360, and HE was too into his PS3 to reconsider. Shame.

I almost said that getting or keeping a console for one game alone would be a bit too much...then I remembered that I'm seriously considering the Wii U so long as Pikmin 3 comes out, regardless of anything else.

My significant other was kind enough to preorder this for me, as an early birthday gift. Since I'm the excited one, I'm sure he'll get the call and be all, "Whatever," and just pick it up whenever, as I sit and squirm, playing Radiant Historia with a touch of undeserved indifference brought on by anticipation of another distraction.

But would keeping a console for another few weeks for one game be too much? It'd be weird to trade in a console right before a major game you want is releasing.

Of course, in this case the dude probably didn't know/care much about Xenoblade.

@carlosrox
@Brick

What happened, ya monsters?!

@GameDadGrant

I bet if he was trading in a 3DS or something you would've stopped him

@VickiL

Eh, I dunno. Isn't buying a console for one game kind of weird? I always thought that you should buy games for your consoles, and not vice versa. Won't there be other games that you'll enjoy? I'm sure you'll find something else besides Pikmin 3.

--Checking out your games collection (woo, RPGs!); are you planning on DragonQuest X?

I'm off work in an hour then I'll head straight there to get it! I should be sitting down to play in just over 2 hrs. Looking forward to it. This is a very rare thing for me to do. Last time I did it was Arkham City and it payed off big. And by this I mean being a cynical lil shit about a game and then giving it a chance and buying it. I'm gonna do it more often.

@carlosrox

Should all go according to play, I believe I'll be starting around 6pm tomorrow. Buy it, watch baseball / read instructions, play it.
