Nintendo of America is releasing Xenoblade Chronicles to North Americans exclusively at Gamestop and via Nintendo's online store.

Official website.

Nintendo of America said:
It’s man vs. machine in a new game coming to Nintendo’s Wii™ console in spring. Xenoblade Chronicles™ asks players to use the Monado blade to take on a seemingly endless series of invading Mechon robots in a sweeping role-playing adventure.

The main character is Shulk, a weapons researcher who must confront the Mechon by wielding the ancient Monado blade. It’s the only weapon that has any effect against the Mechon, and it also enables Shulk to see the future.

Players can customize their characters with a variety of weapons and armor choices, as well as headgear, boots and gloves. As in many role-playing games, players can then gain experience and upgrade their characters. Players can watch their enemies, learn their tactics and unleash real-time counterattacks.

The vast open world of Xenoblade Chronicles is ripe for exploration. Players can avert their focus from the main story and venture out looking for other challenges and side quests. Hidden areas and unique monsters are scattered throughout the game’s massive world, which players can explore freely.

Xenoblade Chronicles has already launched in Japan and Europe, and has received unanimously positive reviews, including several perfect scores.

Xenoblade Chronicles will be available exclusively through U.S. GameStop retail locations, http://www.gamestop.com and http://www.nintendo.com at a suggested retail price of $49.99 in the United States. Additional information about the game will be announced in the future. For more information, visit http://xenobladechronicles.nintendo.com.

Too few people listen to the podcast it seems. BAH.
Tell me about it.

Wish there were a way to easily identify the NWers who don't so I could ban them.

Is it possible to ban other mods?

Sounds like you need a SUPERMOD.

@Guillaume

I agree wit your sentiment especially Origins. Most underappreciated last generation.

@Guillaume

Why did too few people listen to it? Did we miss Xenoblade spoilers?

If thats the case, I DEFINITELY don't want to listen to it.
I don't even like to read "impressions" on the game.

I wanna go in FRESH!

You missed no spoilers. I just talked about why the game is good in its own right, and not because of all the Rainfall craziness.
But I already know you never listen to the podcast. Ah well.

@VofEscaflowne
That's about where I stopped for a while. I'll be picking it back up during Christmas break.

Oh, I am mightily aware of that.

Hey, I haven't missed an ep!

I think I've listened to a third of 'em. So much stuff flies over my head though (other consoles, DS/3DS stuff, etc.) to the point where I'm not even interested by it, and the other part is games that I don't want to know/hear about at all, and with Skyward Sword out now.. Mine is still in shrinkwrap.

Officially reserved my copy today. 5 bucks.

In and out, no one tried to sell me anything. "Weird."

I'm reserving this game on Nintendo.com online store.... they say pre-orders start on the 19th..does that mean...midnight EST? who's staying up tonight to pre-order???

@Smerd

Why stay up for the pre-order? They're not in limited quantities. In fact, the preorders will determine the number of copies that are made, so it can definitely wait until tomorrow morning, or longer.

You know, after reading the IGN article, I bit the bullet.

I had no idea there was a shop Nintendo website. I'm about to check it out and see if there's anything else I could add to my order.

EDIT: WTH? You can't buy other games from that website? I guess Xenoblade is a one time shot then huh....

@ChuyMasta

Nintendo only sells games directly from them on rare occasions. The only other time I can think of off the top of my head that they did this was when Electroplakton came out on DS. The Nintendo website was the only place you could get that game from.

I pre-ordered my copy of Xenoblade from Gamestop. Got some Gift Cards for Christmas that helped reduce the price. Plus I don't have to pay shipping - going with Gamestop in this instance is clearly the smarter choice, IMO.

And Gamestop deserves the sales too, if the rumors of them approaching Nintendo to localize the game here are true.

I plunked down my $7.99 on it last week at Gamestop. I look forward to it come April. Though the employee, Donnie, seemed a bit confused. He said he thought it was going to come with like an art booklet or something special from Gamestop specifically... he seemed misinformed. I know he wasn't just trying to sell me the game cause he knows me, never questions when I do or don't want a game, and I already made my preorder previous to his announcement. It is a shame when employees aren't more in the know within their own company but the people who run my Gamestop are generally good Nintendo-lovin' folk.

@DrFinkelstein

Huh. You know, Fink, it COULD come with an art book. I've gotten art books for almost every RPG I've gotten from them.

The Tales of Symphonia one was almost strategy guide length.

@Mr_Mustache

Did the Japanese one come with anything?

I'll be pleasantly surprised if it does come with whatever babble he spoke of but I'm not counting on it. I don't expect Nintendo to go the extra mile with this game is all.

@DrFinkelstein

Japanese one? I have no idea. Surely someone else does?

There are a lot of things from Gamestop for buying games. Liiiike, did you know that the Lucha Libre game came with an actual wearable wrestling mask?

@GameDadGrant

Ohh I see. You might be right about ordering through Gamespot being the better choice considering shipping and what not. I just have a grudge against that store.
