Nintendo of America is releasing Xenoblade Chronicles to North Americans exclusively at Gamestop and via Nintendo's online store.

Official website.

Nintendo of America said:
It’s man vs. machine in a new game coming to Nintendo’s Wii™ console in spring. Xenoblade Chronicles™ asks players to use the Monado blade to take on a seemingly endless series of invading Mechon robots in a sweeping role-playing adventure.

The main character is Shulk, a weapons researcher who must confront the Mechon by wielding the ancient Monado blade. It’s the only weapon that has any effect against the Mechon, and it also enables Shulk to see the future.

Players can customize their characters with a variety of weapons and armor choices, as well as headgear, boots and gloves. As in many role-playing games, players can then gain experience and upgrade their characters. Players can watch their enemies, learn their tactics and unleash real-time counterattacks.

The vast open world of Xenoblade Chronicles is ripe for exploration. Players can avert their focus from the main story and venture out looking for other challenges and side quests. Hidden areas and unique monsters are scattered throughout the game’s massive world, which players can explore freely.

Xenoblade Chronicles has already launched in Japan and Europe, and has received unanimously positive reviews, including several perfect scores.

Xenoblade Chronicles will be available exclusively through U.S. GameStop retail locations, http://www.gamestop.com and http://www.nintendo.com at a suggested retail price of $49.99 in the United States. Additional information about the game will be announced in the future. For more information, visit http://xenobladechronicles.nintendo.com.

I feel like you guys are getting a little bit into the politics of the thing. It's a great game, just buy/import if you must, and enjoy.

No, but the thing is, Nintendo is supposedly gauging Xenoblade's pre-orders and sales as to whether they'll bring over Last Story or not. So we're all expected to rush out and jump through NOA's hoops and pre-order Xenoblade so they'll MAYBE bring over Last Story. Both those games should be no-brainers for localization and I'm not jumping through NOA's hoops. If NOE treats their customers better, I'll just start buying from them. Piss off NOA.

I don't think that's a bad thing since they're somewhat similar games. Why take the financial risk to bring something over that may or may not sell?

That's fine. Then why should I rush out and pre-order Xenoblade or buy it on release day in hopes that they'll bring over Last Story when NOA may or may not bring it over regardless?

So...is this game good? Like, really good? I don't want another "pretty decent" RPG like Baten Kaitos (sorry, BK fans!). I'll gladly drop 50 bones on this game come springtime, but only if it truly is one of the best games on the Wii and not just renowned for its forbidden fruit status.

It really is good. It's no BK.

I feel bad answering this as a Baten Kaitos fan It's good but I think a few things have held it back for me, mainly the side quests. I know they,re side quests so you can avoid them but damn if they're just so numerous and boring

I gotta get back to it now that I've mostly beaten a few games that I own. The battle system is really a lot of fun!

I'm gonna pre-order Xenoblade and get it on release day just because I want to play it. Forget sending NOA a message. Just buy the games you want imo.

If they don't bring over The Last Story, just import it, like a lot of people already did with Xenoblade.

I was going to import this game somehow as I really wanted to play it.. I'm happy NOA changed their mind. Yes I still roll my eyes at NOA's ways but I'm going to support their decision and pre-order on their site, on the 19th. I have a chance to vote with one thing that matters to them business wise: Cold Cash.

I'm buying Xenoblade at launch because 1. it's a really good game (from the impressions I've read here and other websites) and 2. it's supposedly seeing limited release in North America. I couldn't care less about pre-ordering it to see if it helps The Last Story's chances. I want to play The Last Story just as much as you do, but it's North American status didn't factor into my decision to buy Xenoblade, and it shouldn't yours. Import it if it doesn't come over. Simple as that.

@TriforceBun

From everything I'm reading, it's the best JRPG this generation. I'm all about it.

What a generally spiteful bunch.

Whats wrong with [most of] you?

Like these last few guys have said, if you want THE GAME, get THE GAME. Who cares who is watching (Gamestop, Nintendo of America, etc.)? What a weird way of doing things. Can you imagine being a tiny kid in a rental store when you were younger, and thinking/announcing "I don't want to rent that and give them the satisfaction!" (regardless of awesome Super Pitfall boxart) I mean, haha, what the heck happened here? I KNOW it didn't used to be like this. Unbelievable.

@Mr_Mustache

I'm not doing this to be spiteful. If I was, I wouldn't have gotten Skyward Sword and also stop supporting Nintendo in general. And I doubt that Nintendo would care anyway. Like WrathOfSamus777, I'm tired of "tests". Didn't work with me when Crapcom did it and it won't work with Nintendo (even if I do consider myself a loyalist). I'm not buying this game because I am genuinely not looking forward to it anymore. Why? Because of Nintendo's/Nintendo of America's stupidity. I haven't turned my Wii on in a minute and is currently unplugged right now. "If" I would've had Xenoblade to play during this time, it would still be on right now. Unfortunately, due to me not having any games to play I dusted off my PS3 and began playing that.

I now do most of my game on the PS3 and rarely play my Wii. The sad part about this? I bought Skyward Sword, but would rather play Castlevania: Harmony of Despair. "That" is how bad Nintendo/Nintendo of America fucked up with me. I'm now only looking forward to Wii U.

Well thats something completely different, haha.

Sorry to hear that. I do understand though.
I, too, wish they would've struck while the iron was hot months ago.

I will. I'll just import Xenoblade too while I'm at it.

Too few people listen to the podcast it seems. BAH.

@VofEscaflowne
I personally enjoy the side quests, but they are VERY plentiful. Just skip 'em, man!

@ploot

Yeah I'll have to skip a few. Still, I tried starting it back earlier today and wow, it's hard to get back into I don't remember the areas very well or maybe I stopped at the wrong spot but I'm really lost. I can see why I stopped here though... this place is absolutely massive and I was tired of all the side quests haha.

Have at it. Just remember that if something goes wrong, you can't get help from NoE or NoA.
