"Runner 2 is the sequel to the critically acclaimed and IGF award winning BIT.TRIP RUNNER.

In the style of the BIT.TRIP series, Runner 2 is a rhythm-music platforming game.

Players will run through fantastic environments, using brand new moves, to brand new soundtracks as they run, jump, slide, kick, and soar toward the goal of tracking down the Timbletot and thwarting his evil plans to destroy not only our world, but every world there is."

"The style of Runner 2 is a huge departure from the 8-bit style of the BIT.TRIP series, but it will still be amazing nonetheless! Look out!"

Gameplay footage!
Looks fun but I still don't like the style much. Too realistic.

I find it pretty charmless, but it's still very early and missing a lot of stuff. We'll see.

I think I said it earlier in the thread, but: I miss the pixels.

Looks awesome!

Yes, I greatly miss the pixelated look. CV's legs movement in Runner 2 just gets under my skin for some reason.

Eh, that makes me want the game less. The new art-style is lacking charm...

I can handle the graphics I suppose (if the music is awesome), I'm just a tad bit worried that nothing in the video was new. I hope they have a few new tricks up their sleeves.

I like the new art style. Obviously the entire background was placeholder, so it'll look better once the real one gets plugged in.

For now it looks like this move is a mistake.

It's very hard to read, and reading the situation in a split second is imperative in Bit Trip Runner.

Well the game seems to have lost a chunk of its appeal for me. At this point its off my radar.

Here's a new video of the same level:

@Secret_Tunnel

I see you like the video. lol Yeah I really do like the way they turned with the graphics. I mean I preferred the bit commander, but you can't deny those shnazzy shoes. The flips and tiny little tricks they slipped in there are fantastic, it blew my mind. hahaha yeah, ill have this game preordered definately.

I think it's going to be playable at PAX. Psyched!

@Secret_Tunnel

Definitely an improvement, and I'll likely buy it when it drops on PSN, but I still prefer the old-school style over this one.

I probably would rather not be tied to a console while playing this. Here's hoping for an eShop version.

I find it incredibly hard to read, and basically identical in gameplay to Bit. Trip RUNNER. Not interested.

@Simbabbad I'm still excited, but yeah... nothing in the new video is new either. I mean, they have to have some new ideas, right? Or is it really just the same exact gameplay with new graphics?

It looked like there may be mid-stage checkpoints now? Not sure how I would feel about that.

@Zero

Daemon would like it. You know...because he's so hardcore, he didn't like the first because the short stages lacked checkpoints. Hardcore gamers like checkpoints in short stages.

Yeah i had a hard time seeing what was going on as well, but I had that problem in the original BTR as well.

come on, have a little faith in Gaijin. they know what they are doing.

of course there will be new tricks and things, like mid-air sliding. picture how much harder that game just got, you have to jump and slide through spaces at the same time? if there is one new trick, of course there will be a bunch more.

Did you notice that Hyper Mega Super and Ultra all are without a cool trail behind him? i am definitely going to miss that. Extra looks kinda weak too tho.
I so looking forward to the release of runner2. definitely.
