Negative World Podcast is evolving! Zero, ploot and Guillaume start by talking about the games they have been playing: Ghost Trick, God of War 3, The Longest Journey, The Legend of Zelda, Space Invaders Extreme 2, Gargoyle's Quest and Demon's Crest! Whew.

As if it weren't enough, they also dig into the topics of the day: how special circumstances may influence our enjoyment of certain games, hacking your Wii and general homebrew talk, and the announced free GBA games for Ambassadors: Mario VS Donkey Kong, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi's Island, Metroid Fusion and WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$.

Tons and tons of content. And bear with us and the poor sound at the beginning: it gets better.

As usual, the theme music comes from Negative World's owner and dictator, Zero. The rest of the soundtrack is taken from Yoshi's Island.

Comment on the topics, the podcast, the guests, the host, etc. on Negative World! Or, be a weirdo and post them on Facebook or Twitter instead.

Why not sign up for a (free) account?

The NYCast didn't do so hot, and the month-long absence probably didn't help. Anyway, I would appreciate it if anyone listening to and enjoying the podcast told other Nintendo nerds, tweeted about it, posted about it on other boards, reddit-ed about it, etc. Whatever it is people on the web do.

Note to ploot: STOP LAUGHING AT EVERYTHING.

Why is syncing on the iPhone so flippin' unintuitive? I just wanted to drag this podcast over to my phone so I could listen to it while running errands and it's taken me 30 minutes while the idiotic thing does backups and other crap I don't need it to do right now. Ugh.

@kriswright

You must be mistaken: it's an Apple product, it's more intuitive than intuition itself. You must completely lack it.

lol

Since it was probably cut out due to sheer annoyingness, I'll post it here:

ZEUSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

Anyway, can't wait to listen to what I already should know since I was there even though there was that one time what where I said something someone had already said so clearly I wasn't listening despite being there.

@Zero

Also, remember when you chided me for repeating something you said? When you get to that part you'll figure out why that happened...

Maybe. But I'll probably forget what I said by the time I get to what you said.

@ploot

Don't worry, I do the same thing.

I'll probably give this thing a listen sometime next week.

Nice and entertaining podcast. I've said it before, but I think the 3 person crew works really well. Easy to keep track of who's who and everyone seems encouraged to speak this way. Good call.

As far as the "What are we playing?" segment: T'was good, but it probably went on too long. I wanted to hear you guys get to your topics a bit sooner. That said, I'd hate for the discussion to be limited to only one game a piece. Maybe there can be some other way to cap the amount of time devoted to the segment. Maybe? Or you could put it at the end. Just some gut level suggestions there. I think it was a fine feature, though, and lead to a memorable discussion of God of War. I hope you'll keep it on the podcast.

I just want to note that this podcast is safe for delicate ears. Only after the "end credits" music are there a couple swears. No F-bombs though.
Well, the the word "pissed" is in there, but it's almost hidden!

You guys must have clumsy fingers (or thumbs in this case). I didn't have any particular problem with the d-pad playing LoZ.

I was amused that you brought up Desert Bus for Hope. Crazy how they do that and make a ton of money for charity.

@kriswright

And imagine: I cut out a significant amount of rambling! Not sure how we can limit the time spent on that in the future, though, other than limiting the number of games.

And I was originally at least going to skip talking about Space Invaders Extreme, but that darn Paul went ahead and quizzed me about it, that sneaky sonova...

The whole point of the "what are you playing" discussion is to act as an icebreaker so I don't know about putting it at the end...

@kriswright We definitely realized at the time that the what are you playing was going too long. As Panda said maybe it would be good to limit it, let everyone pick just one game they really want to talk about or something. And we ended up talking about God of War 3 for like 10? 15? minutes or so, I really didn't expect that.

We just talked for a long time in general. The unedited version would have been another hour or so...

I'm listening to it now, and I'd like to say that I played and loved Ghost Trick. Probably my favorite game this year so far.

Started listening on the train. Good ep! I don't think there's too much danger of a Negative World What'cha Been Playing turning into a discussion of the same AAA games that everyone else is discussing.

Love the Zelda II love!

@Anand I was actually going to point out that every single game that's been discussed so far I've heard about on another podcast today On the most recent Radio Free Nintendo they talked about Gargoyle's Quest and Ghost Trick. And I happened to listen to an old podcast on my car ride to work where they talked about Space Invaders Extreme (well, the first one).

But I like this segment, and it's certainly not the same games I'm hearing about everywhere.

EDIT: Zelda II! Glad to hear some love for Zelda II :D

I am Error is not really a bad translation. Somebody else tells you to ask Error of Ruto about a palace, so you know who to go talk to.

I should have released the podcast last week when it was fresh, then it would look like RFN copied us!

There is a hard mode (or "plus mode" or something) in Mario vs. DK. I believe you have to lead a Mini Mario to the door in each level. It's a bit closer to the DS games in that regard, but it's still got a focus on platforming. I actually 100%ed that mode as well. It's different, but it does help extend the length of the game if you enjoy it as much as I did.

I also prefer Fusion to Zero Mission, and I think I'm also in the minority. I dunno what Zero is talking about.

EDIT: I think Super Circuit includes all the levels from Super Mario Kart. I could be wrong on that though, since I don't own the game anymore.

EDIT: Oh, you just confirmed that.

Great podcast. I think @kriswright is probably right about the three person format. On the four person podcasts I've listened to from various sites it always seems that two or three people dominate and the other(s) don't add much. It also probably depends on the mix of people. You'll notice in life that one guy will be very talkative in some situations but in a different group - even if he knows them well - he may "clam up".

I thought Guillaume and Zero did well as usual and Ploot was a natural. Very easy to listen to. I think I've listened to all the podcasts at least once at this point and have been very impressed how many people on this forum do quite well podcasting. Of course not everyone is cut out for it but man some of you sound like you've been podcasting for years. Especially the one chick that was on a few episodes back - just kidding Anand! Seriously though you do a great job!
