After a month-long break (missed us?) explained by poor planning on the host's part, the Negative World Podcast returns to tell you all about the International Negative World Meet-up 2011 that took place in the Big Apple.
Listen to Anand, Mr_Mustache, Abdooooo and Guillaume talk about what it is like to meet with people you've never seen before, but have talked to for years; and discuss party games, arcade games, food, karaoke, and hot, sweaty (censored).
Thanks go to Mrs_Mustache and Jargon and his wife for participating in this very special trip, and HUGE thanks go to CPA_Wei and Deathly_Hallows, the New York City residents who had to put up with us.
As usual, the theme music comes from Negative World's owner and dictator, Zero. The rest of the soundtrack is taken from Mario Kart 64 and Savage Garden's repertoire.
Comment on the topics, the podcast, the guests, the host, etc. on Negative World! Or, be a weirdo and post them on Facebook or Twitter instead.
I love hot sweaty (censored)! Especially with the (censored) and the (cennnnnnnsorrrrred). SO AWESOME.
EDIT- Oh, and I was wrong on Wei's song selection. I don't he did Creep by Radiohead, but it was rather Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day. This is correction to what I haven't heard yet, or a special behind the scenes peek!
No worries. No one needs to know about my irresponsible golfing venture. I'm really happy we all got a chance to discuss all the NYC events. Here's to an even better adventure next time!
Oh, and if any of you guys who weren't there turned off the podcast because it was really only of interest to us, let me know, I want to know that too! We had fun recording and I think the fun translates into the podcast, but maybe for the people who weren't there, it's really not that fun to listen to this stuff?
I made the conscious decision when I started editing that I wouldn't go crazy on it: I let a lot of stuff pass that I normally wouldn't. But we had a good flow, so the pace doesn't suffer. And by "we", I mean "Anand". I really should have called this one the Anandcast.
It's good stuff though. I'm being entertained at work! Whereas last night while editing I wished for the opportunity to punch Anand in the mouth.
I have a correction to make: I said on the podcast that the Bionic Commando GBC game had been confirmed for the European eShop, but it turns out it's this version instead:
We should play sometime! But only on Free Play. Otherwise, being an asshole is too expensive.
Listening now. I also cracked up at the technical difficulties song. And there is a whole lot of Anand so far (even though I was spaced-out from allergies). But I already apologized for your prospective editing, Gui!
I'm surprised at how much stuff you left in, actually. It seems to be working out pretty well. Let's see how listeners like the high OT quotient.
I'm also genuinely curious to see if anyone who wasn't at the meet-up enjoys this podcast.
One point about Cooperative/Competitive games - I'm with Anand on that one. Play Capcom's Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers some time. Throwing my little sister into the cactus was hilarious every single time.
EDIT: Agree with Anand again about Double Dash. Totally underrated. People complain over and over again that Nintendo stamps these games out exactly the same, but then they actually innovate with Double Dash and everyone bitched about it. (EDIT: Aaaaaaand, Anand just made that same point. Boom!)
I won't have a chance to listen until tonight, but I bet it'd be BETTER WITH CHIP N' DALE RESCUE RANGERS MUSIC!!!!
@kriswright EDIT - WOW! I typed the above without seeing your post. Crazy stuff. I tried to get Gui to put the Chip 'n Dale stage one music onto the podcast. I failed.
