Super Adventure Island II is tricky...it lists as a Super Nintendo game, but the screens are NES shots. Until it's clarified, I'm not listing the price.

Anyone else watched the Go! Go! Kokopolo trailers on there? Yes, trailers plural: a 3 minute one showing in-game footage, and a live-action one. I was mesmerized. They really seem to believe in their product. And to be fair it doesn't look bad at all. I wouldn't be surprised it if was meant to be a full retail release at some point.

Hmm, I must not have played that one but I was never a fan of the original Adventure Island. Super Adventure Island II is also quite a departure from the original formula though which is why I love it so much. Or maybe that's just nostalgia... it's probably a terrible game. I'm still purchasing it though

Ooooh, some parts I had forgotten but this is awesome Shields, armors, weapons, an overhead map area with random battles, different levels that link to each other kind of in a Metroid fashion. Awesome!

I've always wanted to play Super Adventure Island II! Good week, although I'm still hoping for a little more GB representation for the 3DS.

Looking forward to these games in particular:

Kind of a high-level question: Do you guys really think trickling games out on the 3DS is the right way to go? What's the downside to just dumping 300 3DS VC games on the server at once?

Games could get lost in the shuffle that way, and I suppose Nintendo is wary of that. Even if it's just a "ROM dump", it's pretty expensive to publish on the eShop because Nintendo is part of the ESRB and therefore you need your game to be rated to be published on their platforms. And that costs a couple grands at least.

A couple of grand? Really? Well, that's bullshit, especially on games that are simply ROM dumps. Nintendo can't break the code for these games? Isn't the ESRB a self-regulatory body? Would Nintendo get fined for not complying?

Kokopolo's adventure is also packed out with extras, a variety of bonuses that are welcome holdovers from when this title was first being developed with a retail release in mind.

I wish I could find again the article I got that info from. It broke down the costs pretty well, and the gist of it was basically that making old games available is more expensive than it sounds. All sorts of people and copyrights to tracks down, even if you don't count the ESRB fees.
