Wow. And the review is by Lucas, not Daemon.

It's legit!

Plus, 108 holes and hotseat multiplayer. You win this round, Gameloft... *shakes fist*

I want to wait for more reviews. Though apparently it is a port of an iOS game that scored very well there. Still... I feel like iOS games get an easier shake when it comes to scores. Hmm.

Well, in a display of "good news", Let's Golf 3D shows Nintendo is a bit more serious about digital downloads. Wasn't the block limit on WiiWare like 320? Because it uses 1526.

The price is comparable to that of the App Store ($4.99 for Let's Golf 2 HD, add some 3D in and I think the $2 increase is justified). I still likely won't be buying it, but it's good to see them get a bit more serious about the digital side of things.

GoNintendo said the game is around 200MB, which bodes very well for the eShop. I don't know what the size limit was for DSiWare, but 200MB (which likely isn't even the limit) is a heck of a lot more than 40MB.

Still waiting on Mario's Picross (or Picross e)....

1526 blocks?

Hmm, I better go out and get a real SD card for my 3DS soon. The 1 GB one is going to be full soon enough.

@Zero You mean 2GB? I'm pretty sure the included one is 2.

But even then, I'm thinking about getting a new one. How does that work? Is the eShop saved on the SD Card? I know the system has a little bit of internal memory...

They're pretty cheap on NewEgg. I got a 16GB Class 6 for $30 not too long ago.

That's a whole lot of 3-dimensional cubes being dropped into a box.

@gtarrant
Cool, looking forward to them.

I bought Lets Golf and played one of the courses out of the six available. Very cool game. Best use of $7 bucks that Ive spent in a long time. Beautiful 3D graphics, nice sound and tight gameplay. If you like golf, esp. the Mario Golf games, then here is your fix. Its a no brainer....unless you have no brain.

@anon_mastermind

So what's he gonna give to a golf game made by a competent developer? Bleh.

Well, it all depends on if, the competent developer developed a competent game, right? I mean, Capcom, Konami or even Nintendo could release a dud of a game, therefore the score would probably be somewhere around a 7 or lower. Or maybe the competant developer might develop a really good golf game and it would probably get rated around an 8,9 or 10.

Regardless, Lets Golf by Gameloft is a solid title, well worth the $6.99 asking price. IGN gave it a 9 and as an ios game, it's Metascore is a 91. Meaning the game is good.

I'm sorry Guillaume, I share your distaste of Gameloft on a conceptual level, but I think I need to check this out. Reviews make it sound like a pretty meaty and pretty competent golf game for $7. And I've kind of been dying for actual 3DS games to play on my 3DS I spent $250 on at launch, as well as dying for a new Mario Golf which apparently isn't coming anytime soon.

I'll give my impressions later on.

@Zero

I'm with you, bro. I'm definitely getting this game.

I have never been a huge proponent of boycotting out of sheer principle anyway. I mean, yes, that can be a factor, but I also have to consider the value proposition of the respective product. In this case, Gameloft wins.

I'm not boycotting. I just don't believe a Gameloft title can be any good, no matter what people say. GL games have been praised in the past and I've been had before. Not gonna happen again...

Aren't the Gameloft ripoffs actually decent games in their own right? I thought I read that somewhere. I really don't have anything against shamefully profiting off another game's image if it results in something fun.

And in maintaining those beliefs you refuse to buy their products; a form of consumer activism, which is the definition boycotting.

No it sounds like he doesn't want to buy them because he assumes they all suck and doesn't want to waste his money. Which may or may not be false, but it's not a boycott. A boycott is when you don't buy something that you may otherwise have bought for moral reasons/etc.

Also, holy F this download is taking forever. Huge game.

@nate38

Some of them are, yes. And unlike most shovelware companies, they can be pretty competent when it comes to presentation and/or graphics.

I will tell you this I purchased Lets Golf 3D and i must say shame on me. i should have known better by watching the videos. The game is so f"ing slow. Show to load and slow to animate. Horrible. I really can't get past itl. The graphics are OK and the 3D is very nice, but everything is slow. Also the game does play more like Mario Golf TT in that it makes the game idiot proof. Gone are you trying to calcutate distances of shots from the max yardage of the club you choose. Everything is handed to you. So sad how golf games eloved from Mario Golf on the N64.
