Operation Moonfall Begins: Bringing Majora's Mask to the 3DS

A collaboration between several Zelda fansites, and the Zelda community in general, have started a movement to show just how much they would like to see Majora’s Mask 3DS. As there was a similar campaign by Nintendo fans recently, under the name Operation Rainfall, they figured that the only name that made sense would be this: Operation Moonfall.

You know, the more I think about this, the more that the idea doesn't seem that good.

The argument for bringing this game to 3DS is that most of the work is already done. Much of the hard stuff has already been done for the OoT port, so it should be a simple job, right?

Wrong.

It's only simple if you're all just happy with an upgraded port. If you are, then you've forgotten the critical component that made OoT 3D truly worthwhile- The Master Quest.

Master Quest OoT already existed, so it was relatively easy to port. But there IS no Master Quest edition of Majora's Mask. Meaning Grzezo (or Nintendo- hopefully Nintendo) would have to run through the game and design one. And that is going to take more time than a simple port.

Now I'm happy for them to take the time and do this right. But if Nintendo's only reason for doing this is because they can do a fast and lazy port of the original, whack on Boss Rush and call it a day....no. The game won't be worth it.

MM Master Quest or nothing.

@Shadowlink I agree. The Master Quest is a must now in order to bring the value up to OOT3D levels. At the same time, with all these news about Nintendo's financial woes and the fact that OOT3D has sold over a million copies in one month, it is basically a no-brainer for Nintendo to port this game, even if it just sells half of OOT3D over its lifetime.

I want it to happen because I never ever did get a chance to play Majora's Mask since my brother always hogged the N64 back in the day.

@Brick

It's called VC. And Majora's Mask Club.

Will YOU be the one to save Termina? None of the other shrubs are up to the challenge.

@Shadowlink

I know it's on the VC, but I never got around to downloading it, but then when I first heard of OoT 3D, I figured I'd wait for the 3DS version.

@Shadowlink I think Nintendo would just skip the Master Quest if they did a Majora's Mask port. If not... I'm game. That's the kind of added value that can get me to buy a port of a game I already own.

No.
More.
Ports.

And as much as I love MM, I'm getting a little sick of the internet's recent love affair with the game.

MM is going to be my next game after I finish Devil May Cry and Link's Awakening.
