I actually am really excited that netflix will be on the 3DS. Now, I can watch shows, ect at work, or at the very least listen to them on my headset when I am actually working. I have been waiting for this for a while, About time it happens!

I own all the G&W galleries, they are definitely worth checking out.

@Jargon Totally missed that. No idea then.

@NoName They posted a different story saying it was coming to the European eShop. I didn't see this one, and I'm glad I didn't because I'd be mad when I found out it isn't coming yet

Bump again. Apparently Nintendo snuck one under our noses on the Wii VC...

Hmm.

If I were hankering for a shmup, there is a dozen better/more high-profile ones I still need to get around to, like Lords of Thunder or M.U.S.H.A. or Ironclad or Gradius II or...

Disappointing. Where are Adventure Island II and Lufia?

Hey cool, there is a Wii VC title.

Of the G&W Galleries, I have only played G&W Gallery 4. It's a super-addicting title in my GBA library, and I spent hours shooting for high scores. The games hold up really well as there is a ton of unlockable content that is difficult to 100% on everything.

Never played Gallery 1,2, or 3 so this is a good VC start!

Super Earth Defense Force is a shmup, I believe. It's nice to see more Virtual Console games, but the VC already has a ton of shmups in its library.

Not a bad week at all. Netflix doesn't seem particularly practical, but it's convenient having another system to play it on just in case. G&W Gallery is a game I've never played and it ended up being quite a bit of fun, and a good deal at 3 dollars. I think I like Manhole and Fire the best, and the way they updated Manhole was very clever.

I'm watching My Cousin Vinny on Netflix 3DS. Sound is nice and loud and the video seems clear enough. Good reason to have the cradle also.

Might be nice for when I go to bed and want to watch something.

@TriforceBun

Well Netflix 3DS is getting 3D movies, so that's a pretty nice convenience. Its screen angle is also adjustable and can be comfortably viewed hands-free when set down, unlike iPods or iPhones.

Anyway, is anyone else super impressed with the sound quality of the Netflix streams on the 3DS? It's the best I've heard on a portable system. I have a new found respect for the 3DS' speakers!

EDIT:

Also the interface is fantastic, and I love the 3D menus and the 3D video stills when you FF/REW the stream.

I noticed that mostly everyone on my friend's list is watching movies on Netflix right now. Can't wait to use this on Wii U with its big, fantastic screen.

I'd heard, maybe erroneously, that Netflix was definitely not going to offer 3D movies for the 3DS. Did I hear wrong?

@casper884

Yea, the sound quality is really good. Not that I ever had a problem with the picture quality while streaming on Netflix, I must say the picture quality looks even better on the 3DS. I'm assuming thats cause the screen is so small. Most of the time I will watch Netflix on my HDTV Plasma via my PC, which I have hooked up directly to my TV, but I am sure there will be times I will watch the movies on my 3DS and I will use my headphones for a more intimate experience. I watched Risky Business(again) today on the 3DS and I really was impressed. More than likely when I am not home and bored wherever I might be, I can just watch a movie now, as long as there is a wifi connection.

@kriswright

Well, I remember reading awhile back that Netflix would eventually be offering movies in 3D. Of course things change all the time. What wasn't clear in the article was if it would only be movies that are in 3D or if all movies would have the 3D effect applied. Also, I remember that there is going to be another movie service available for the 3DS and that one is definatly going to have movies in 3D. I cannot remember much about that service and who all is involved. I feel confident, eventually there will be movies available in 3D, either on Netflix or some other service.

@gamewizard65
Hope you're right. It'd be a cool little feature and would add some more value to the 3DS. (I'm pretty sure the 3D effect could only be added to actual 3D movies though.)

@kriswright

Thats what I was thinking as well, and even if they could somehow turn every movie into 3D, those movies probably would look that good or benefit from the 3D effect.

@kriswright

Technically, you didn't hear wrong, but the source at that time was wrong.

3D movies for Netflix was confirmed in the official Nintendo press release when the Netflix app launched yesterday
