2011 Club Nintendo Rewards Announced. Prepared to be severely disappointed.

Nintendo of America has just announced their Platinum and Gold Rewards for Club Nintendo Members for the year of 2011. A lot of people were expecting some cool Zelda figure or maybe a game. Instead we get pins. Yes, you read that right, pins. I'm very disappointed by this. In my opinion, pins should be a Purchasable Reward not the Grand Prize. What do you think of these prizes? Sound of in the comments section below.

Platinum: Pin badge collection
Gold: 2012 Calendar

I bet the problem is that too many people reach platinum level, so Nintendo gives away crappier prizes to save some money. Oh well...at least it's free.

Pretty damn lame, but oh well. We buy Nintendo games to play, not to get free collectables. However, compared to last year, and even the year before (I loved Doc Louis) this is disappointing.

I dunno, is last year's Mario statue really that much better? Either way, it's gonna be sitting on a shelf collecting dust.

Yes, the statue at least had some craftsmanship put into it. You can at least show it off. Whereas if you showed off some pins, uh, wow?

Some people LOVE pins. Just wait until JKR gets in here.

Have we seen the pins?

If they are the same pins as the ones I got at E3... that kind of blows for the people trying to sell the set on Ebay for $50.

Check out the OP. I just put up pictures of the pins and the calendars.

@Secret_Tunnel

The problem is not that the pins suck, they actually look pretty nice. It's just that pins is something you would expect as a purchasable reward, not the Grand Prize after buying so many games. Nintendo could have played it safe by releasing a Zelda figure like the Mario one from last year. Unfortunately, instead of playing it safe, they played it cheap.

When I saw this thread I thought everyone was overreacting because I assumed the pins would be like the Mario ones that were available for coins.
I have now seen them and I can make these pins by myself in ten minutes. The thing that's "neat" about the reward is the boxes they come in.

It's the worst of the prizes, but I'll take 'em anyway!

I just edited the Original Post and made it a news article.

Yes, I'll agree, some people LOVE pins, and that's great. Problem is, pin collectors are far and few between. Only a small percentage of people that are Platinum members will appreciate them (just my guess). Things like the Mario statue are much more widely appreciated (at least by the positive reaction on these boards last year when they announced it).

Wow, they aren't even nice pins...

Everybody complaining that NOA sucks, these pins were Japan's Platinum prize last year, which arrived to them this March.

So, not only do we get a sucky Platinum Prize, it's also a hand me down?!?!?!?

Haha, Jeremy Parish also put it in perspective the same way.

I dunno. Those buttons don't appeal to me, but then again, neither did that figurine last year. I'd like more stuff like Doc Louis' Punch-Out!!, but what are ya gonna do?

It appears that Nintendo is lazy and we actually do care.

I'm just saying we can all have shitty prizes together, around the world.

That's funny. We can suffer together.

I wouldn't mind this so much if the pins didn't have Nintendo with the C on each one. That kinda tarnishes the image IMO.

I wouldn't mind this so much if it was actually Tingle's Balloon Fight, instead.
