The fourth annual
Mario Marathon ended last night at 1:30 EST. Over the course of the 110 hour long marathon of all the main-series Mario console games, $110,642 was raised for
Child's Play Charity.
Chris Deckard, John Groth and Brian BrinegarMario Marathon 4 was organized Brian Brinegar, aka Shirt Guy, and took place in his home, which was decorated for the event with pixel-art Mario wall stickers. Other players included John Groth (Couch Guy), Chris Deckard (Slouch Guy), Nate Jones (Shorts Guy) and Bobby Arnold (McLoveseat). Many other internet "celebrities" made appearances during the event, including Sundeep Rao (Orange Shirt Guy), Ben Cotton (Mac Guy), Jed Johnson, and a BUNCH more.
During the marathon, new levels for the players to beat were unlocked by donations. From the $110,642 raised, 775 out of 786 possible levels were unlocked.
The top referral site for Mario Marathon 4 was
Penny Arcade, with $7,224.20 in donations. Our own Negative World was ranked #29, with $110.00 in donations.
Child's Play Charity is a game industry charity dedicated to improving the lives of children with toys and games in a network of hospitals worldwide. Since its inception in 2003, the charity has distributed over $7 million worth of toys, games, books, and cash.
