Virtual Console

Super Mario Land (Game Boy)
$3.99

Relive the madcap mayhem of Mario's very first Game Boy™ adventure!

Ancient ruins, giant crabs, Koopa Troopas, flying stone heads, and hungry sharks await you in this re-release of the 1989 Game Boy game.

In the beautiful kingdom of Sarasaland, a mysterious alien has appeared and hypnotized the inhabitants, while kidnapping Princess Daisy™ for himself!

Travel over land, in the air, and underwater, as Mario runs, jumps, and bounces his way to fortune and glory on his mission to save Princess Daisy and restore peace!

Ancient ruins, tempestuous waters, and brand new challenges await!

Radar Mission (Game Boy)
$2.99

Two games in one! Close-up torpedo battles plus long-distance missile strategy.

If you prefer long-distance battles, choose Game A to strategically deploy your fleet and engage the enemy in pulse-pouding missile face-off. Find and sink your enemy's vessels before your opponent finds and sinks yours! Or if face-to-face battles are more your forte, choose Game B, climb into your fleet's submarine, and set off to face your opponent's fleet head-on. Use your sub's sonar to track enemy movements from beneath the waves, then surface to attack. But keep in mind, while you're hunting the enemy, your enemy's sub is hunting you...

Alleyway (Game Boy)
$2.99

Interstellar bounce-back action with a deadly energy ball!

Your spaceship is at the gate of the Alleyway™.

As Mario™, you will need to use your vessel to deflect the energy ball towards oncoming space grids. Hitting the grids will either weaken or destroy them, and you'll need to keep returning shots until the entire field is cleared!

As you progress through each level, you will confront new challenges of alternating stages, bonus rounds, and more. Speed and agile reflexes will quickly become your strongest allies as you reach to beat the top score!

Why not sign up for a (free) account?

The 3d video for Ocarina is really nice. I hope they keep the new games screens and videos updated every week, it's a pretty cool feature.

I didn't buy any games but for those of you who bought the Gameboy classics how does it look on the 3DS?
Doesn't it look cleaner / play smoother?

i don't why they would emulate ghosting other than authenticity

I remember the original ghosting was difficult at best to play games on the original Gameboy... especially the fast moving Super Mario Land.

I can't get the update to work, it just gives me an error when I try to get it. I've been trying most of the morning with no results. Anyone else have this stupid problem or is it just my 3DS?

@anon_mastermind Done!

@vids I've been playing Super Mario Land and it looks great! The graphics have sort of a soft look to them but it's not blurry at all, all the original pixels are clearly defined. The black and white color scheme looks great and feels like playing the old Game Boy (under excellent lighting conditions). Fast movement is not a problem here, unlike the old games.

@PabloXl5 It's not just you. I wanted to check out some DSiWare games but I'm still having problems connecting to eShop.

Wait, are you having trouble getting the system update, or do you have the system update already but can't access the eShop?

@roykoopa64

Sounds like you got the update though? You're playing MarioLand....

I can't get the update period and I've been trying since early last night. It's pissing me off.

Everyone's having problems. Nintendo + online.

Still, I managed to transfer all of my DSiWare (except for Pinball Pulse :( ). Except for one scary hitch, where I almost deleted my DS Wi-Fi settings, it went alright. At first, it seemed super-slow, but that was just the picture transfer. And the interface is so cute! Pikmin!

@PabloXl5

I got the update last night and managed to download SML, among other things, before getting more error messages.

It sucks you haven't been able to get the update yet.

Guess I'll just keep trying then... grumble, grumble.

Cool. Thanks for the update @roykoopa64. You should make this a weekly thing.

@sirmastersephiroth

Actually you bring up a good point. Is Nintendo planning to release new titles for 3DS VC and 3DSWare every week? Will they update it every Monday as they do WiiWare and Wii VC?

Link's Awakening DX released the day after, but I believe that was a special one time event intended to coincide with E3.

@roykoopa64
Thursday updates for the 3DS store. That was mentioned somewhere. Monday announcements for Thursday updates, I think?

Cool stuff Roy, I really like the Pokedex. I can imagine how good it will be if there is a Pokemon game in 3D.

I also watched the 3D videos of the new 3DS games. Luigi's Mansion is hilarious (I have not played the original Luigi's Mansion, but I hope to).

Neat news article, Roy.

So now that I'm home, I've finally managed to download the update. I am... somewhat unimpressed by the store.

First, having to enter your birthday each time, really?

Second, scrolling through all the content and the categories is a pain. And if there is an option to change the layout and make the icons smaller but display more of them at once, the way you can on the 3DS's menu, I'm not finding it.

Third, gotta watch those things as they download? And can't queue them up? I thought Nintendo was serious about their online store this time?

But anyway, at least we now got something.

Super Mario Land is about as shoddy as I remember, with its annoying collision detection that makes you go through blocks you should hit.
I downloaded Radar Mission thinking it was Solar Strike, a shmup, when it is in fact Battleship.

I don't have to enter my birthday at all, do you have that info set in the 3DS settings and have you turned the parental controls to off?

I can set my birthday in the 3DS settings but not the year.

And I hadn't configured any parental controls at all, but I just did, everything is "unlocked", and I still hit the Age Verification screen every time.

@Guillaume

Weird maybe is a Canadian thing, Try setting your 3DS to another country to see if that fixes it.

@warerare

Huh. I changed my province to Ontario, and the Age Verification screen is gone. Seems like a Quebec thing. WTF?

@Guillaume

Weird, I got the verification thing too when I downloaded the Revelations trailer
